Conveniently Located in the Heart of Fort Worth

Conveniently Located in the Heart of Fort Worth

We had a clean, comfortable room at this hotel. I had no complaints about the features of our room: king-sized bed, variety of pillows, iron and ironing board, cable television, clean bathroom, etc. In general, the room was of the good quality we expected from a Marriott hotel.

The hotel has nice amenities such as two computers in the lobby with free internet connections. There is an outdoor pool, indoor whirlpool, and an exercise room with free weights and cardio equipment. Although we did not use the exercise room, I stopped by to get some water from the water cooler. I had to get used to the Fort Worth water which always seemed to have an earthy/soil smell.

This Courtyard Marriott was formerly known as the Blackstone Hotel. Built in 1929, it has the distinction of being Fort Worth’s first skyscraper. There is a small display behind a velvet rope in the lobby that pays homage to this historic hotel and mentions some of the famous guests that have stayed there such as John Wayne and President Lyndon Johnson.

The purpose of our weekend in Fort Worth was so that my wife could run in the Cowtown Marathon. She booked our room many months in advanced. This turned out to be a smart move on her part. The hotel has an excellent location for getting to/from the race. The starting line was 3 blocks away; the expo was two blocks away; the finish line was in front of the hotel. In fact, we could watch runners cross the finish line from the comfort of our 9th floor window (Room 907). The hotel's location also offered other advantages such as being located in the heart of Fort Worth's Sundance Square. This section of the city has restaurants, shopping, concert halls, and theaters. For dinner our first evening, we were able to walk two blocks to the Ferre Italian Restaurant for my wife's ritual carb-loading pasta meal the night before a race. I thought the food was okay but over-priced. On the other hand, the apple/ricotta ravioli dessert that my wife and I shared was worth every calorie-loaded spoonful.

Our stay at this Courtyard Marriott was not without some annoyances. We had to return to the front desk for a room change because the initial one we were given appeared to be already occupied. We saw someone else's luggage when we entered. Fortunately, the owners of the luggage were not there when we opened the door.

There is not much free street parking in the area. When my wife inquired at the front desk, she was given the impression that our only parking option was the hotel's valet parking garage at a rate of $12 per day. We found out the next day that there is a large free parking garage two blocks away at 4th and Calhoun Streets. Overall, we found the Courtyard Marriott Downtown/Blackstone to be a nice hotel that is conveniently located for tourists and Cowtown Marathon participants.

This room was not worth the money spent. There are no amenities with this hotel. The size of the rooms are very small. The bathroom was average. There is no place in the front to unload luggage. One attendant at the front desk was quite rude. All in all, this wasn't what I would expect from a Marriott hotel. I do not plan on staying there again.

This historical hotel located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth it surrounds travelers with the conveniences that make business and pleasure travel easy. The Courtyard Marriott is conveniently located on the edge of Sundance Square, our hotel is a short walk to Bass Hall and the Convention Center, and a quick drive to the Fort Worth Stockyards. This hotel features an outdoor heated swimming pool all year long, a fitness room with a complementary pass to a local gym, an indoor whirlpool and valet parking. When you walk in the front lobby you will find a lobby bar where you can unwind and relax, you will also find a flat screen television and a few couches for sitting and resting.

At the front desk you are greeted with fresh apples and friendly customer service. Within minutes you will be up to your room where you can relax. Each room has a comfortable sitting area, large work desk area with free high-speed Internet access and phones. The rooms are also equipped with hairdryers, iron and ironing board and coffee maker. The room also has soft pillow top mattresses with soft fluffy pillow. The beds were so comfortable.

If you prefer to spend some time outside there is a courtyard on the 13th floor and then by the pool area there is a grill area with picnic tables and a grill, you can sit and relax by the pool or under the gazebo and grill. It really is a relaxing place. The hotel offers valet parking for a fee. $10 a night for guests and $6-$9 for visitors. Valet service was very helpful and made parking easy especially for a weekend in down town Fort Worth. The location of this hotel was the best thing, with Sundance Square right at our fingertips we were able to walk out the front door and be there in minutes. Sundance Square is the happen place to be on a weekend.

For what I paid to stay at this hotel I expected a far better room. Pool is small and only 4 feet deep, spa was out of service.
