Loved it! Only One Tiny Issue!!

This hotel is very nice. A bit off the beaten path and exactly what I was looking for. A few things you should know before choosing this hotel for your vacation. There is no shuttle from the airport. If you have three or more people in your group, save some time and get a taxi. It will run you about $*on way to get to the hotel. If you take the Meyers shuttle, they charge $*per person and you have to wait for them. Also, the slide is broken. Not a major deal, the pool is pretty, but a working slide would have been appreciated. People have told us that the slide has been broken since May. They charge you to park in their lot. I do not know how much, but I think it is over $* per day. They also charge a resort fee of around $*per day. None of these things were big issues for me. I loved the place even with all the quirks. The only minor annoyance was when I checked in, I did not leave a credit card with the front desk. I paid for the resort fees up front with cash for the five days we would be at the hotel. i was not planning on renting movies or charging anything to the room and I believe that sometimes hotels will overcharge for things and that sometimes people do not check their bill. I paid upfront and the kind person behind the counter gave us a free room upgrade. I thought that was very nice! The next day and every day after, I got a letter telling me that I did not pay the fee. I talked to the Manager and checked out with an erroneous balance on my account.

Dirtiy Room!

I stayed here on business and brought along my 10 year old son so he could enjoy Disney World on his free time. First the bedroom linens were disguising, brown stains on the sheets and multiple stains on both sides of the bedspread. My son got a number of bites from the bed we did sleep in, after 3 nights be had over 50 bites on his torso. I complained the Manager on my way out, he said he would have the room cleaned and call me as to what they found, he never called and they in no way compensated me for the issues, should have at least paid for the ointment for the bites!

Great experience

That hotel is huge! It is the size of a shopping mall. It has an atrium view of ponds, rivers, waterfalls all within the hotel. I recommend getting a room with the atrium view it is beautiful. There is so much to see and do inside the hotel that is where we spent most of our time when visiting Orlando. The staff was very nice and helpful. I will stay in this hotel again next time I visit Orlando.

Family Vacation w/ Kids to Disney World

We had a great experience at the Gaylord Palms. Very nice hotel, book a room with an atrium balcony, it was great! We used the hotel shuttle to Disney parks and had a great experience. The bus failed to pick us up one time, but it was immediately fixed by sending a towncar for us at the hotels expense. We would definitely stay there again! Very family friendly hotel, nice spacious rooms. Lots of ammenities restaurants, pools, atrium gardens, shopping and more. Very pleasant stay.

Disapointment in Orlando

  • January 8, 2008
  • Rated 4 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
When we arrived at Gaylord Palms and I went in to register I was so excited and was looking forward to a nice, relaxing couple of days before we headed to the theme parks. It is beautiful inside and out and the designers have thought of the smallest details. The hotel is stunning. I thought I had found a haven in the madness of Orlando and was so thankful not to be staying in the tourist area. Unfortunately, the beauty of the hotel is where the fun ends. The rates at this hotel should put it more in the luxury category, but is not the case. Should you plan to visit Gaylord Palms, be prepared to wait well past 3:00 for check-in, deal with staff who really do not care, overpriced food that is not well prepared and that you wait a long time to receive, hard beds, non responsive front desk and be ready to walk a bunch with or without your luggage to get anywhere in the hotel. Also be prepared to explain to your child that even though the Octopus slide and play area at the Children?s pool is under construction, they can not visit the adult area pool, which is much better maintained and staffed. So be prepared to leave the hotel a bit more tired and with less money than when you arrived and already have your fill of crowds and waiting in line even before you hit the parks. And don?t get sucked in by the websites Emerald Bay VIP / Executive area being a hotel into itself. It is no different than the rest of the hotel other than the fact that the beds are higher off the floor and are hard as a brick.
