Okay stay

The room is pretty big and very clean. However the bathroom does not have a blowdyrer and there was just one soap available. There is no free internet, which can be annoying. We asked the staff some questions about dining and things to do and they were clueless about providing even basic information about Las Vegas. So don't really count on them to be helpful in that regard.

Bad Service

We went in a group of four couples. After staying in the hotel for two of the three nights that they paid for through online travel website, one of the couples was locked out of their room and told that the hotel was over booked and then forced them to pay an extra $175 to stay in the hotel on the third night that they had already paid for and had a receipt. They are still waiting for online travel website to return their phone calls. This caused the entire group to miss the finals at the drag races while they were arguing with the hotel with online travel website reciept in hand showing that they had already paid for the room. Everyone in the group was highly disapointed with the bad attitude and rude behavior of most of the staff at the hotel.

Good Experience

We went with another couple and it was a good experience for all of us. We were checked in quickly and the staff was friendly enough. The rooms were clean and neat, and that was appreciated after walking around the strip all day. One thing that would make this hotel alot better is if it had a pool, and the restaurants left much to be desired. The overall experience was good though, and for the money you can't beat it. Hanging around downtown Las Vegas was a fun time, and given the opportunity we would stay here again.

I loved the El Cortez

We were very reluctant at first when selecting to stay here. However, when we first arrived we were upgraded to a king suite (from our standard Queen) free of charge. Our room was nicer than we ever would have imagined for the money. It was very clean, and well furnished. The only thing I had a problem with was being on the 3rd floor with no elevator, however, even that wasn't a huge problem. The casino was cozy and the staff was very friendly and professional. They offered 3 dinning choices, however we only ate at the cafe, the food was wonderful, and the price was resonable. The location was great for activities on Freemont. Was a bit of a distance from the strip, but we had rented a car, so even that wasn't a problem. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the El Cortez and highly recomend it for the vacationers on a budget!
