Description: I've been to Jordan several times and stayed at this hotel once. The hotel is beautiful! The architecture and design at this hotel are second to none.
I stayed in one of their tower rooms which are supposed to be higher end. The room exceeded my expectations with features I didn't expect to find in a Amman hotel like high speed internet access via television, safety deposit boxes, computer jacks, and satellite television. The room was comfortable and well appointed. It surpassed my Sheraton Hotel experiences in the states.
The hotel is a city in of itself with many fine restaurants and shops. It was like being at a 5 star resort with the indoor pool, massage, sauna, gym, yoga classes, and relaxation rooms even though they don't market themselves as one. There was an outdoor pool deck and bar with stunning views of the city. The amenities were all top notch.
The hotel has a business center with computers, printers, and internet access. They charge for use of the business center and they charge per page for printing that is done. Internet access from your room is $20.00 per day, but it is high speed unlike in the business center.
They do have a free breakfast in one of their private lounges and free appetizers in the afternoon.
There is a 10% gratuity charge and 8.8% government "VAT" tax that is added to your bill. I think it should be up the guest if they want to tip for service. With all the taxes and surcharges, it was close to 20% additional on top of my bill. You won't pay the 10% service charge at other local hotels, but you will be expected to tip for any service you request.
The food was good, but very expensive. I could have left the hotel, eaten better, and paid less though. I ate at the Spice Garden Restaurant the first day. It was basically your above average salad bar buffet. There were a few items which you would not find in your typical buffet, but the price surely did not reflect the standard of food I ate. It cost about $40.00 for my lunch.
This is a great hotel if your focus is on luxury, opulence, and convenience. For the most value for your dollar, I would recommend a local hotel like Toledo Hotel or Kindi Suites where you will pay about $60.00-$70.00 per day in season tax included. You will be just as happy with your room there as at the Sheraton.
