The staff was very friendly and courteous. We were greeted with smiles, opened doors, and a willingness to assist if needed. The rooms were nice and clean. The beds were comfortable with the exception of the pillows. The pool & beach area were wonderful. Something that I thought was rare and nice was the access to umbrellas if you needed them. Everything was wonderful with the exception of the pillows and the pricey restaurants.

From check-in to check-out, staff was gracious and helpful. In NYC, when you say thank you, the person usually responds, "no problem." At the Intercontinental, staff replied, "my pleasure." Our room was not huge but adequate and very comfortable. The bed was very plush with lots of pillows, a down featherbed on top of the mattress and a light down comforter. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a nice variety of hot and cold breakfast foods that included local specialties and of course lots of fresh fruit. I especially enjoyed the fact that they had a juicer available so you could prepare your own fresh fruit and vegetable juices. We tried all three restaurants for dinner. The steak house and Japanese restaurants were excellent. The Italian restaurant was disappointing--the main course was very salty. However, the manager did not charge us for the dish and was very apologetic. There was also a fairly good range of fast food and local eateries in the vicinity. A small store a block away had basics such as water, soda and beer but not much else. The gym was well equipped and I never had to wait for a machine. The beach was beautiful and the water was calm. The first few days seaweed littered the shoreline but we were told this was a seasonal phenomena. The rest of the week the shoreline was clear and clean. The lagoon-type pool and jacuzzi was wonderful. There weren't too many children but they seemed to have activities kids would enjoy. We went on one trip and it was well organized and interesting. After we checked out, a hospitality room was available for changing from beach to street clothes. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer but we will definately return.

I love this hotel. It?s very quite, so if you are looking for a hotel with a lot going on, this is not for you. If you are looking for some real R & R with a bar in the middle of the pool and access to the beach. This is it. It?s next to the El San Juan, which is a very busy hotel so when I wanted to party or needed to hear some noise, I went next door. When I we arrived, the check-in had a little line, but it didn?t take long to get us up to our room. The room in which the hotel manager was very gracious to upgrade for me as it was my 30th birthday. I had a king room, with balcony on the top floor with an ocean view. I feel asleep and woke up listening to the ocean every morning and I feel in love with this hotel because of that. My room also over looked the hotel pool below so the view was amazing. You can also see the other hotels and the beach from the rooms very high up. The staff is very gracious and opens the doors and greets you every time they see you. There are flat screen t.v.?s in the rooms. The rooms are a great size and the rooms are very clean and modern. I didn?t eat in the hotel as it was expensive so I found some restaurants across the street and down the street which are very reasonable. The only disadvantage was that they hold $100 per day on your credit card for incidentals.
Very Nice

We stayed at here over Thanksgiving and had a great time. We would highly recommend the hotel and area to friends. It is in Isla Verde with the El San Juan Hotel and the Ritz sharing the same beach. At check-in we asked for a different room - one bed with a sitting area instead of two beds. They made the switch immediately and moved us to a higher floor which gave us a better view. We started each day with a run on the beach (the beach is great) and then stopped at El San Juan Hotel for Starbucks. One day we had a spa package at the Ritz and were able to use their gym classes, work out room and pool area. The spa was over priced and we've had much better elsewhere. The Ritz pool area was crowded and hard to walk around, although I liked the live jazz group at the Ritz. Our hotel pool area was very nice and we enjoyed it. The hotel concierge recommended various places to eat and a few activities and all were good recommendations.

I decided to take my wife away for a few days for our anniversary.......this was a great trip.
Weather was absolutely beautiful and no had no complaints with the hotel. Spent all five of our days out at the pool in one of the hotels cabanas. This was great...not to crowded and plenty of sun....highly recommend this (if you want to relax, get sun and read a book. I see that some reviews complained about prices for food and beverage at the resort....guess what....thats everywhere. We ate at Ruth's Chris, Alfredo and the cafe at the pool.....the food was fantastic and so was the waitstaff....very friendly people....if you are looking to be cheap and not spend any money...go across the street to the fast food (we did not do this). We were thilled with this getaway and love visiting Puerto Rico. Traveled there now a few times and never had a problem......Great hotel for the money, everyone was friendly, and overall a great experience.....hope to go back real soon!
