We stayed in NYC for 4 days and this hotel is in a perfect location for walking the city. Staff were very helpful and friendly and although the room was small it was comfortable and clean. I would stay there again and definitely recommend it to others.

The main purpose of a hotel is a good nights sleep and the beds at the Algonquin are the best I've had at any star hotel. The staff is helpful and accommodating. (we had early in and late out). Free coffee/tea between 6:00 and 6:30am. The NYTimes available then too. Food is expensive so go next door to the RedFlame Coffee Shop for a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner. Many resturants within a block in any direction for more selection. Close to bus/subway. We were very happy with our choice.
Loved it!

The room was great, the location was great, the service was great...what more could you want?! The room was small, but we were never there so it didn't matter. You are within 2-3 blocks of Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Terminal, etc. As far as food goes, there are literally restaurants EVERYWHERE in NY! There is a decent diner called Red Flame Diner right next door. It has good food at a decent price, no need to walk far. There is also a good bagel place called Times Square Hot Bagels right up the street (oh, yum!!) It's a great romantic getaway. The hotel is older, but has been remolded. This isn't a loud/busy/crazy hotel - if this is what you are looking for, you won't find it here. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again.

Stayed for 4 nites and could not be happier- This hotel is like the "grand- dame" Old and stylish- Room was very quiet- had all the necessary amenities- I would say....Simple, yet elegent. Matilda the Cat is the official greeter and just a wonderful touch to this historical hotel. The Concigier, was incredible- He was able to obtain show tickets for a show totally sold out. Great Job!
Overall the staff at the Algonquin are very proud and passionate, always willing to help insure you have a memorable and outstanding stay. I will definalty return!
don't hesitate just book it.

We stayed at the Algonquin for 6 nights and we have nothing but great things to say. Location is fantastic, the rooms are a good size for New York and we just stayed in one of there classic rooms, the beds are incredibly comfortable and clean. The bathrooms spotless, we even had a bath tub, never had that in a hotel in New York before.
They also provide free web use, which is kinda of unusal now as most hotels will bill you for anything they can.
The lobby is just beautiful, great old vibe, we had dinner and drinks there one night and the food and service was great, as well as having live music in the oak room.
The staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much for them.
When we go back to New York we will always stay at the Algonquin, don't hesitate just book it.
