Nice Stay

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well tended. I was oringally given one of the upgraded suites in a private hallway and I asked to be moved to a more central room away from the emergency exit and without batting an eye a new room was produced. It's convient to the highway and lots of tourist destinations. The conference room was well tended and kept with lots of cold/hot beverages. We were a group of 60+ folks staying and it was grand. From the happy hour to the breakfasts. Great walking distance to shops and restaurants. Nice escape from downtown. Out of the 60 of us, no one had a bad thing to say...and was surprised that it was a pet friendly hotel. There wasn't a room that had a doggie odor!

Great value for the price -- Good for families

When my family was in town, they ended up staying here. Just a short drive away from Berkeley, but without the high room rates for dilapidated buildings. Essentially, they could experience the East Bay without the grime. As its name indicates, all rooms available are suites. Very spacious, and well laid-out. The kitchen had plenty of space to maneuver, with a convenient breakfast bar. All necessary amenities were provided. All in all, it was a wonderful departure from the cramped quarters of a standard hotel room. For the price, it’s more than worthwhile. Really, the prices are comparable to other Berkeley hotels – all for a newer, more modern, and much more spacious accommodation than anywhere in Berkeley could provide.

Woodfin Suites Hotel in Emeryville

The Woodfin is in the midst of a very noisy labor dispute, with frequent demonstrations out front. A boycott has been called of this hotel by workers' rights organizations.

We were woken up at 7am on a Saturday by one of these protests... an unpleasant experience. This is a great hotel if you like feeling like you're in a fortress.

A fantastic hotel in Emeryville, the Woodfin offers travelers a range of amenities with only the smallest number of drawbacks.

After you exit Powell Street to head into Emeryville, you’ll spot the Woodfin on your left. That’s because it’s very centrally located, across the street from Emery Public Market, and a short walk to many businesses.

The Woodfin offers a newish hotel with kitchens in the rooms; morning and evening food and a drink for free; a decent gym; and a friendly staff. There’s high-speed access and friendly service.

The only drawbacks are a not-so-cheap price (but not bad relatively speaking) and the lack of affiliation with a rewards points program. For many travelers, this is a minor concern. But when you stay in a hotel over 100 nights a year, it’s nice to be rewarded.
