creepy night clerk

We arrived at 3 am after an exhausting drive just to find a night clerk who could not speak English understandibly. Also, he did not know that we had paid for the room in full to the online travel agency and demanded to swipe our credit card again. This was all very frustrating since we had already paid, but could not communicate this to this man. So, we gave up and gave him the card. Two of us went into the room and one of us went to get the luggage out of the car. The night clerk walked into the room, using his own key, without knocking on the door!?! Now, how creepy is that!?! Also, this ground-floor room had the window wide open to the parking lot as we arrived. Further, the trash can was full of empty beer and wine bottles and the smoke detector was dangling by wires from the ceiling. Very disturbing, indeed! The walls were paper thin. We were awoken at 7 am by the moanings next door. The towels were stinky, worn thin, and permanently stained. Interestingly, the bed wasn't too bad. I suppose that's what people come there for! Would we recommend this? Hell no!
Good deal for the money

This hotel is not really very conveniently located as it is in far Western Amarillo, but it is a good buy for the money if you get there early enough to insist upon a room far away from the Interstate. When we first checked in the clerk gave us a room right near the office saying that was all they had. The highway noise would have made our stay intolerable, so I went back and insisted upon a room as far away from the highway as possible and was then given one. The queaky wheel axiom in action. The rooms are very large and comfortable with sitting area, TV, microwave, refrigerator and high speed Internet. The best part of the hotel is the free hot breakfast in the morning.

The facilities, staff, were great. Very good continental breakfast. Worth the price.

After checking in, I proceeded to my room only to find that it had not been cleaned. The trashcans were full and the beds not made up. I informed the front desk and they assured me it would be ready before I came back from my meeting. The next morning, when attepting to take a shower - I found that there were no toiletries - no soap - no shampoo - nothing. Overall, a poor experience
