I spent weeks researching the perfect, romantic little hotel to take my husband to for his 40th birthday treat and Le Soleil was the hands down winner. This luxury boutique hotel is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Inside the lobby you could imagine you were in Paris or Rome. Vaulted ceilings, crystal chandeliers, rich fabrics and fine artwork evoke a feeling of wealth & elegance.
The staff are caring & professional. Even in my grubby street clothes I was treated like a princess.
The hotel always offers a variety of packages with themes such as movies, spa, fitness, dining, etc. and after shopping around I'm certain these are some of the best deals in town (for a luxury hotel). I booked the "Romance package" (wink, wink) and was extremely pleased with it. The package included: 1 nights accomodation in the one-bedroom penthouse suite, complimentary valet parking, romance basket full of goodies, bottle of champagne, gourmet chocolate dipped strawberries, $50.00 gift certificate for Oritalia (the Hotel's restaurant), and a late check out time of 4:00pm. The total cost was just over $300.00 CDN. For an extra $125.00 I could have gotten the deluxe package which would have given me two monogrammed robes to take home but I just couldn't see the point.
The suite was gorgeous. Vaulted ceilings, a beautiful dining table and kitchen area, large deck overlooking the city, giant marble bathroom (with Aveda amenities to take home), King size bed with a silk bedspread, down duvet and baby soft Egyptian cotton sheets, and a small office room with a fax (not that we needed it). With the turn down service, fresh rose petals were laid along the carpet leading into the bedroom and a large heart was made on the bed - what a nice touch.
That evening we ate at Oritalia, in the hotel, and I was very impressed. Ordinarily we would go to Delihlah's but it was nice to just stroll over to the elevator after dinner. It was also nice to have that 4pm checkout so we could sleep in late & lounge around.
Some of the hotels amenities include: 24 hour room service, twice daily maid service and a conceirge. There is no gym on site but guests are welcome to use the extensive facilities at the Health & Wellness centre next door. Le Soleil also caters to business travellers and actually have 4 "Elle suites" that cater specifically to female business travellers (does that mean the mini bar is stocked with chocolate?).
When you come to Vancouver, budget for one night in the penthouse suite...you won't regret it! In fact, budget for one whole, perfect day of luxury: Morning - do the Grouse Grind, Afternoon - pamper tired muscles at Ocean Day Spa, a snack at Osamu Sushi, check into Le Soleil Hotel, Evening - dinner at Delilah's..then sleep in late and smile!
