We have two children Age 11 and 7. The family pool and slide were great. Staff was friendly. Upon checking in they had us in a room with a bay view and I really wanted a pool view. They switched us without an issue. The bellhop took our bags to the room but first gave us a quick tour of the hotel. This was terrific and helped us get acclimated much quicker. Breakfast and dinner buffet (they had a childrens buffet too) was good but if you wanted a quick bagel and coffee breakfast, I found that expensive. $2.50 for a standard yogurt is excessive. The pool closed early on a weekday (8PM) but stayed open until 10 on weekend nights. Hotel room was clean and turn down service was nice. I thought the grounds could have been a little better. There were leaves in the hot tub and that surpirsed me. Not a great big deal but I did notice it. Overall I would stay again without hesitation.

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Universals Parks. Would I stay here? I'd live here if I could for the winter. Well manicured exterior, top notch interior...I can't think of one complaint, and I'll complain if there is one due. I'm booking again this year!!!

I stayed just overnight on business, so I didn't get to explore too much, but the hotel and rooms are very, very nice. And, it is extremlely clean. The food at the hotel was good.

The Best Vacation Hotel

Protofino Bay was easily the best hotel for a romantic getaway. It was modeled after an Italian Riviera city and they did a great job of emulationg Italy. My wife and I have been to several cities in Italy so we are very critical and don't eat at Italian Restaurants anymore. The Portofino had three restaurants we would highly recommend. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The room was beautiful and the setting was great. One review mentioned long walks as a bad thing. However, you could take a complimentary boat ride to the parks or walk one (1) mile along a beautifully landscaped walkway which also had rickshaw bicycles on it. I can see how someone who desires a compact hotel like Holiday Inn and Applebees for fine dining may not like it, however, if you like to splurge and treat yourself to a nice week then this would be the place for you. It is pricier than some hotels and restaurants, but well worth it.
