First time to Charlotte, and enjoyed the stay here very much. Staff super friendly and would go out of there way for you. Rooms were cleaned daily, and very nice. Enjoyed the view from our room, and the closeness to downtown and the clubs. X, he is the best shuttle driver ever.

The Blake is a better than average high-rise property about three quarters of a mile (or a 12-15 minute walk) from downtown Charlotte. The rooms are spacious with floor-to-ceiling windows. Bathroms are small and dimly lit. Beds are relatively comfortable--neither too hard not too soft. Widescreen TVs (32in. I think) are excellent. Pool is not in operation at present. Did not eat at the restaurant. Desk staff and doorman were courteous. A free shuttle is available to downtown. I was satisfied with the Blake and would stay again.

The Blake Hotel is just ok

The interior of the hotel looks just like the pictures-pretty nice. But once you stay for more than a day or two, you notice odd things. The hotel was remodeled several years ago, but it looks like it was remodeled just enough to get by. Old patched bathtubs and ancient thermostats detract from the updated sink and bedroom. Elevators are original and slooow. Several of my traveling companions has issues with temperature control which is noted several times in other reviews. My toilet leaked constantly which I also noticed was a recurrent problem in other reviews. Very dim lighting in the bathroom-imagine showering by candlelight. The hotel bar is cramped with low ceilings; it should be named the cave rather than the vault. Overall decor is dark-I couldn't wait to get out in the sunshine! If you get a great rate as I believe I did, the hotel is middle of the road. If I had paid full rate and expected a 4 star hotel, I would have been upset. The hotel provides a shuttle van and both drivers we met were wonderful; they went out of their way to assist us in any way. Thanks * and *! The hotel is on the fringe of uptown; not terribly close to all of the restaurants but still walkable is needed.

Not a Great Experience--Chef Great!

We recently attended a conference at the Blake. The rooms were clean but very uncomfortable. The shower situation was a joke--you would freeze while waiting for the water to warm up because you had to get in the tub to get the water regulated. That stationary piece of glass needs to go! The room and the bathroom were dark and the bed was not comfortable.

The best part of my stay was the chef in the restaurant. He went out of his way to open the restaurant early for breakfast both days that we were there. He seated us, brought us our coffee, took our orders, cooked our food and served us--and continued to keep our coffee filled until we were finished with our meal. The food we had there was excellent. The second day, he had a buffet and everything was absolutely wonderful! He was excellent and should be commended for his customer service skills!

Excellent value

Clean room, comfy bed, helpful staff, good restaurant. Six blocks or so from Charlotte Convention Center, a nice walk or they have a free shuttle. Good deal
