Sunterra Resorts at the Ridge

Best Things Nearby:
Beautiful views of red rock formations, hiking trails, the Hilton resort pools, and fitness center next door

Best Things About the Resort:
Very nice accommodations; friendly, helpful staff; and a good location, not in Sedona, but a few miles south in village of Oak Creek, which was quiet and scenic

Resort Experience:
This was a great resort!! We requested a unit on the second floor, facing the Hilton, for the best views from our balcony. The resort staff was very helpful with bookings and directions. There were lots of great day trips, activities, and restaurants. There was great weather in March to April. It was one of our best trips!!!

Best Things Nearby:
Shopping in Sedona and hiking in the nearby red-rock canyons

Best Things About the Resort:
Great views, nice pool, and a great staff

Resort Experience:
The studio units are fine for two people or even two people with one child. The partial kitchen only has a fridge, sink, and microwave. I had a nice view of one of the larger red-rock formations and the pool. The unit was well appointed. The Sedona Golf Resort is an awesome golf course, one of the top-five I've played.

Sunterra Resorts at the Ridge on Sedona Golf Cour

Best Things Nearby:
Grand Canyon, hiking Sedona Red Rocks, golf, scenic drives

Best Things About the Resort:
Very well-maintained. It is in Sedona!

Resort Experience:
There were three of us in a one-bedroom unit, and it was very spacious. It was also one of the best-maintained units I have ever stayed in. (I later read that the building had just opened in the fall.)

This resort is actually about 7 miles from downtown Sedona. It is very close to the outlets and located right next to the Hilton. In fact, you have access to the Hilton pools and exercise facilities.

The kitchen was large enough for everyone to help prepare dinner, and the dining table seated four comfortably. The family room had a fold-out sofa, two chairs, a fireplace, and a DVD player. It also had a sliding glass door that opened to a patio. The bathroom had a large tub with jets and a separate shower (only one sink). This unit also had a stackable washer/dryer. Our unit looked out onto the golf course.

The reception center has two computers with Internet access and a printer. They also had complimentary coffee and tea 24 hours a day!

The resort has a small game room with a pool table and an area to borrow games, puzzles, and books. They also have organized activities.

The only thing I could find "wrong" with the resort is if you ended up with a unit facing the parking lot, you would be contending with the lights and noise from the cars coming and going.

Best Things Nearby:
Hiking in the red rocks of Sedona

Best Things About the Resort:
Beautiful scenery. Proximity to the golf course and sports complex.

Resort Experience:
We were in a comfortable one-bedroom condo on the ground level. It was decorated in lovely, Southwest decor. The kitchen was well equipped, though we ate most of our meals out. A fabulous two-person jacuzzi in the bathroom. Our patio opened up against a hill but we had a great view of the golf course below and a hilly area with lots of gambrill quail. Our only complaint was that the bathroom noises from upstairs were an irritation, especially during the night.

There were two pools and three hot tubs in the complex. We found a great hot tub up the hill surrounded by foliage where we loved to sit and watch the stars come up in that black Arizona sky.

We walked the neighborhood each day soaking up the scenery, the fragrance and the calming atmosphere of the Arizona desert. Very secure, very beautiful.

Staying at the Ridge gave us privileges at the spa/sports club up the road, where we enjoyed playing tennis several times during our trip.

We arrived at the Ridge before check in time, but the staff found us a room that was ready. We were given a room that the patio opened up onto the road. Even though I felt like I was being a pest, I went to the office and asked if there was another room with a better view and they gave us the one described above. No problems. Now granted the upper story units have a MUCH better view, we were happy with ours.

Remember, the Village of Oak is a piece from downtown Sedona but we enjoyed being out away from all the hustle and bustle of crowds. You definitely need a car.
