Location a Plus, Noise and Size the Negatives

We stayed at the Clarion for 2 nights, booked it for it's proximity to Ocean Ave and price in relation to other hotels in the area. The room itself was cramped but the comfort and size of the bed was excellent. The bathroom was nicely tiled in stone throughout with a very nice high and large showerhead that accomodated my 6'4 husband far better than most (no tub, standing only). There is no counter space save for the area immediately around the sink which leaves no room for toilletries. We had a good laugh over the incredibly loud flush of the toilet which sounds like a jet engine - avoid use during the night! Avoid this hotel if you do not plan to be in bed by 10pm and awake by 6am as the noise level in the room is intolerable at all other hours. The second floor where we stayed is accessed by a wooden plank walkway (rather than concrete that most hotels with outdoor 2nd floor access have) that amplifies the noise of people walking by. The walls in the room were very thin and we clearly heard the normal shuffling around of our neighbors in the rooms surrounding ours. The TV was a small 15 inches with a VCR that accompanies it. At 8am the hotel staff drops a breakfast basket with pastries, juice, fruit and cereal off in front of your door - this was by far the best part of our stay. The exterior of the hotel is cute and they have a 2nd floor general patio area where you can enjoy the outdoors. We wouldn't stay again due to the noise and size, but it is considerable option for the location and price.
