100 year old gem with comfortable rooms, great public space including gardens and grand piano. Some people enjoy the ghosts

Lousy Accommodations

room was old and run down, no air conditioning (for historical reasons) was extremely hot, if you open the windows to increase circulation you could hear the traffic on the highway and trains going by all night. Service was awful in the outside restarant. Waited over 25 minutes just to be acknowledged. Would never stay there again....

"This hotel has such charm, the staff is friendly and go out of their way to tell you about services and the history of the hotel, no ghosts even if they say there are we did not have any bad experiences, food was great and the chef eeven came to our table and said hello"

For once my wife and I departed from the familiarity of the major national chains, and we're both very glad that we did. Staying at the Hotel Colorado was as much of an experience as anything else that we did on our trip. We took several hours one night just to walk slowly through each floor of the hotel, soaking in the ambiance and history. (The room that we stayed in was five doors down from the "Presidential Suite", occupied by Theodore Roosevelt in 1905.) The antique feel of the accomodations only added to the charm, and I don't think that we would change any part of our time there.

For the last 5 years we have gone to this hotel for a family meeting and make specific room requests at booking, Desk personnel did not know any room assignments. I did not get the suite I had requested because the previous guest had stayed over!!! We asked for a private dining room for our business meeting and were put outdoors on the front porch by the bar. But charged for a private room. ceiling fans aren't always enough. Window fans are available for a fee. There is NO swimming pool on the premises but across the street at the Hot Springs--- entry fee over $10. No voucher given.
