BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC HOTEL AND PERFECT LOCATION but..

FULL OF HISTORY! LOVE the lobby! Desk, van and gift shop staff, plus for the piano player extra smiles and kindness!. NOT so safe for children when it comes to the windows, the screens are loose(NO air conditioning but that works because of windows open with ceiling fans and old fashion door vent..) We were on the thrid floor with one 4YO and twins who are 23months old,the Rooms need to be better kept, not as clean as years past and same Q-tip on floor in bath between visiable pipes upon arriving as leaving. Location walking distance to shopping and pool, fantastic We moved beds close to gether for twins and mom and found under clothing from previous visitor! ! carpet was stained and dirty as was the chairs.Bedding and towels were clean. We want to stay again but not sure if we will?We go yearly. I do hope the upkeep and housekeeping can and will improve!

Hotel experience

Mixed reaction to the hotel. There is no air conditioning which I found out too late to re-book for trip. The hotel staff was not friendly. The only thing they did accommodate me was to allow early check in as I needed to get ready for a wedding. I was there for a very short one night, but was grateful to not have to stay for an extended period. The staff was not helpful to other guests either. When asked for directions or questions, they did not really know or provide any help. The hotel is old and historic, with some updating of rooms.

Poor Experience

Make sure when you use your credit card they are only placing a $* hold..The hotel placed a $* hold instead of the $* stated which resulted in over draft fees. The hotel has no air conditioner and the staff was not helpful. I would not stay there again and suggest you check it out before you do.

Back In Time

This hotel retains all the charm of the late 19th century and that makes it a real treat. This hotel is clean and well maintained although the lack of air conditioning in 90 degree heat makes sleeping a bit uncomfortable at times. Soft drink machine was empty our entire stay, a cold drink on a hot day would have been welcomed. All in all it is the place to stay in Glenwood Springs, plus it has ghosts!

Baking in Historic Bricks

This hotel has no (NO) aircon and not enough box fans. So, for two hot nights in early July, we were truly baking as those bricks, though historic, preserve the heat like an oven. One had to go downstairs to the lobby or the garden to get cool. We couldn't sleep all night. And some of the staff imply "tough luck if you're dumb enough to book here in July". If not for having paid in advance for two nights, we would have moved out after the first night.
