The location is great, Le Meridien is actually connected to an upscale mall (The Shops at Northbridge, containing a Nordstrom''s), but it doesn''t have a mall feel. The hotel bar (Le Rendevous) and French restaurant (Cerise) looked a bit underused, they weren''t exactly city hot spots, but there are many restaurants and bars in walking distance.
We found the service to be very good, the staff were always helpful and friendly. They gave us an umbrella as we were heading out one day, unasked, because they had heard reports of rain. Ask for a room with a view so you''re not stuck staring at a brick wall, as some of our friends were.

A room decorated in Merlot and Metal. Very French. Gigantic bathroom with marble bathtub and clear glass shower. Very similar to the Sofitel, but, in my opinion, slightly better.
Extremely expensive parking, but this IS Chicago. Conveniently located above the shops of N. Michigan Ave. mall. Walking distance to everything but Detroit.
