Moderately priced, excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean and adequately sized. The breakfasts were excellent as was the wine and cheese welcoming party. I would recommend this hotel for short stays in the Stow area.
Definitely worth it

We were very pleased with our stay at the Golden Eagle. It's easy to get to, and near many good places to eat. The cafe where we ate breakfast was reasonable and had breakfast specials every day. The indoor pool and exercise rooms were excellent. The locker room was well-managed; you can shower there and there was a hair dryer for your use. We also used the sauna and hot tub (whirlpool) as well, several times. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a lounge in the office where you can play Chinese Checkers, read, or go on-line to check mail. Our room had a small fridge, which was helpful for storing drinks.
If there was one complaint, it is that the hairdryer in the room wasn't too good. Bring your own, or use the one in the locker room. We would go back again.
Nightmare hotel

Room was filthy, I took photos to prove it. No outside lighting in back alley room I was assigned. Spider in bed when I pulled covers back. Carpet was filthy and chewed up in one section. How dare they rate this as a resort. Nasty front end staff. Room easy to find, just behind the restaurant dumpsters.
Highly Recommended

I have been staying in Stowe for many years. I quick guess would be at least 8 years. I find that the Golden Eagle Resort is a great place to bring family, friends and loved ones. The property is beautifully laid out over 80 acres! Yes there is some walking involved from building to building...but I am visiting Vermont to be outside...so it doesn't bother me at all. 3 pools, 2 trout ponds, walking trails (2 miles?), gardens, lawn games, well appointed rooms....what else can you ask for? Definitely stay there....you won't be sorry!
Not as advertised

This "resort" turned out to be nothing more than a glorified motel. The rooms are set up motel style w/ entrance from the driveway, and the pool and restaurant are not attached. You must walk a distance or drive to both. The pool was lovely but closes at 9pm. The room was smelly and plain. There are many nicer places to stay in the area for about the same cost. I would not stay here again.
