I stayed from May 26, to June 2, 2009.
Positives:
The property is beautiful and well maintained. There is so much wildlife in the area and it makes each trip to the pool an adventure! During the week, I observed several frogs, several exotic birds, several large turtles and even a strange black snake! I was waiting to see an alligator but never did.
The swimming pool is fantastic as well as the hot tub. The exercise room is probably the best I've ever seen at a hotel. Full of workout equipment and even free weights. There is a restaurant and convenience store on the property and were well maintained. Outside the main lobby and throughout the property there is a sense of "tropical paradise" in the air. Beautiful palm trees, plant life and well maintained lawns! It was very relaxing on the property.
Negative:
Over all the service started out pretty good. When we realized that we needed additional blankets/pillows, we called the office and the items were brought within minutes to the room. As the week progressed however, we could not even get toilet paper or towels brought to the room. What was really upsetting was the fact that when we called for the items, the front desk advised that the items would be delivered. The items were never delivered. Also had a bad experience with teenageers in pool talking xxx conversation in front of children. This was no fault of the property but was a blackeye to the trip.
Overall:
The stay was pleasant. The kitchen and large living space was great (we saved $ on groceries/food costs). I would stay again but would plan to treat the complex/hotel as if it were simply renting a private home (don't expect amenities-come prepared). Very safe, clean environment.

Waited 1 hour 20 minutes for the airport shuttle. They must no tell time at this place. Had a dead frog in the kitchen area, security lock broken, had undesireables knocking on our door and wouldn't stop. Had to put chair under the door knobs and do a lot of hoping we weren't robbed or worse. Staff in the restraunt were nice but WAY overpriced.
Great Value!

Essentially this is an apartment complex turned into a hotel. Card keys are required to enter the parking lots, rooms, the pool, business center and fitness center. Laundry and small on site store are available 24 hours. On site restaurant is typical hotel fare with typical hotel overpricing. Staff was extremely nice and courteous. Although I had not booked a room with handicap access (didn't know it would be needed), the staff recognized the need and made the accommodation with no problem. The rooms were small apartment size, perfect for families. Kitchens come with some pots/pans/utensils, but no potholders - so beware. Room was clean, pool was nice, hot tub on site. We were about 20 minutes from Busch Gardens and Adventure Island and about 25-30 minutes from Tropicana Field and beaches. Clearwater beaches were closer and Landry's was a nice restaurant. There is also a fun bowling alley down the street with deals every day - which is great if you get rain. At the hotel there are volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts in addition to the pool. There are also several picnic areas where you could grill out. This was one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in, considering we like to stay cheap and use our money on activities. We were very pleased and would definitely stay here again.
Heck of a deal

After originally booking at Embassy suites (bedroom/living room/bath and kitchette with free breakfast), I stumbled across Mainsail Villages. For far less money, we got a full two-bedroom, two bath apartment for the weekend. It was clean, nicely furnished, easy freeway access and very comfortable. Free internet hookup. No free breakfast, but we bought a few groceries and made ourselves at home.
