Where to Start on a Wonderful Stay!

The double queen room was an excellent price for my week stay in Portland. It was spacious, clean. I loved the sliding french doors between the sleeping and living area for privacy when the teens wanted to stay up late and chat. Decor was quirky and unique. Comfortable beds and linens.VERY quite hotel. Only one evening I heard light conversation, otherwise the place felt like home. Daily NY Times if desired, or ask the front desk, and they'll deduct a small amount off the bill if not interested. Close to shopping... from Ross's Dress for Less to Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Juicy Couture. Light rail system 2 blocks away but very quiet. Hotel staff very attentive and helpful. Very pet friendly hotel and city. Starbuck's coffee, Tazo Tea and hot cocoa in the lobby every am with real mugs to sit with by the fireplace. Lots of business types but never pretentious. Wine tasting at night but I was always on the go to enjoy. The only down side was I really wanted a soft drink one night but there are no vending machines at the hotel, so I had to walk a block to get a soda at 10 pm. The only advice/tip I'd give, especially if you have children is hide the honor bar and table goodies... you could rack a serious bill with all the munchies the hotel places out... Chips, chocolate, game cards and local specialties. I never thought to ask, but I'd check with the staff to ask for a key to lock up the liquors/soda ($8/$4) for safety reasons with little ones. Business center small but 2 PC's and a MAC for use. Free access to print boarding passes or if you give the front desk notice, they will do it for you.

excellent suites for the price!

This is the second time I've booked a King Suite at hotel. The price simply cannot be beat! The decor is fabulous, the room spacious, nice couch and seating area, there's even two big TV's if you're into that (I never turned them on myself). For less than a regular room at another hotel, you can have twice the room here. The attached dining made things easy in the winter weather, but I was disappointed in the unnaturally steep beer and cocktail prices in the bar. And the nights I was there, two different bartenders were personality-less and seemed too eager to close down early. Maybe that's policy when things get slow, but I thought hours were posted for a reason. Also, being a bartender is more than just serving drinks-- it's serving customers. The food was okay but not many choices for those who don't eat meat. So I guess my main complaint is the attached restaurant-- the rest was great!

My friend and I stayed here a few days ago. The service and friendly atmosphere were exceptional. Room service and housekeeping were responsive and prompt. The front desk personnel and doormen were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local restaurants and shopping. I plan on staying at Hotel Monaco in the future when visiting Portland. Our sincere thanks to the staff and management of Hotel Monaco for a wonderful experience.

Comfortable and convenient

We stayed at the Hotel Monaco Portland in October 2008. The hotel is convenient and just a 40-minute light rail ride from the airport. We were in a suite with a king bed?very spacious with a sitting room, flat screen TV and DVD player. We were on the fourth floor and there was a quite a bit of street and construction noise, but that might not be as noticeable on higher floors. That was our only complaint?the hotel was comfortable with friendly staff. There are lots of restaurant options within walking distance or just a stop or two away on the light rail. Macy?s, Nordstrom, Williams Sonoma, and an upscale shopping mall are just a few blocks away. Overall, the hotel was a comfortable, attractive "home base" for our week in Portland. Would recommend to others visiting Portland and would stay here again in the future.
