Hotel would be great for hosting a wedding. Rooms are outdated, bathrooms are too small. If you are on a business trip make sure you have your laptop, wireless internet and a portable printer because the service center will not come cheap, other than that if you are a senior with easy living and love the simple things in life this is a great place for you.

stayed here for business per a deal I got on this site for a 4 day stay that averaged about $130/night and so figured I would give it a shot. Overall the hotel is nice and has some very unique architecture given the fact it was built in 1923. As suspected for a hotel this age the rooms are older but do have character and 9" ceilings. If you want a new plasma TV with granite tops in the bathroom then these are not the rooms for you. They have a nice fitness center and pool, better than many other upscale hotels I have stayed at.
People here mentioned the rip off parking at $40/day so my tip is to park right behind the hotel at the Pershing Square lot (owned by city of LA) for only $14 per day. Of course you do not get in/out priviliges but works well if you do not have to drive anywhere for the day. Additionally at this lot is the Metro subway line which can be ridden for $1.25 one way and as an example is just 15 min up to Hollywood.
Nice place, unexpected issues

I booked a room for one person with a King bed, and got a Queen bed, which was kind of soft and only had one light blanket. The television only worked one day; after that, all I could get was static. There is no Weather Channel, and the Concierge had no idea what the weather was. My key card expired on the second day, while I was down the hall fetching ice. Had to get security up to replace it, which took over an hour. Internet access in the wing I was in is via USB cable only, and costs $9.95 per 24-hour period. (To their creidt, there was a short USB cable in the desk drawer.) The fee was not mentioned on the hotel web site, and I did not notice it being mentioned on online travel. Printing a boarding pass, which is free at most hotels, cost $3.99! There was a small coffee maker in the room, but the supplies were not replenished once used, and there are only glasses and (initially) two foam cups to drink from. Parking costs $40.00 per day.
There is no longer a hotel shuttle to the Music Center.
I've enjoyed staying here in the past, but the service was good then and they didn't nickel and dime you to death with charging for every little thing.
Plusses - lots of hot water and great water pressure. Pillows were good, firm but not solid and not too huge. Iron and ironing board in the room. Lots of towels. Didn't bother to check if the hairdryer worked.
