stayed here for business per a deal I got on this site for a 4 day stay that averaged about $130/night and so figured I would give it a shot. Overall the hotel is nice and has some very unique architecture given the fact it was built in 1923. As suspected for a hotel this age the rooms are older but do have character and 9" ceilings. If you want a new plasma TV with granite tops in the bathroom then these are not the rooms for you. They have a nice fitness center and pool, better than many other upscale hotels I have stayed at.
People here mentioned the rip off parking at $40/day so my tip is to park right behind the hotel at the Pershing Square lot (owned by city of LA) for only $14 per day. Of course you do not get in/out priviliges but works well if you do not have to drive anywhere for the day. Additionally at this lot is the Metro subway line which can be ridden for $1.25 one way and as an example is just 15 min up to Hollywood.

Beautiful hotel, full of history. I could almost imagine the Hollywood royalty of years past walking in the lobby. The room was small, but clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows felt as if they were made of rocks. Next time I'll bring my own and avoid the headache. Parking was WAY overpriced, yet we felt we should tip the valet everytime we picked up our car, ouch!

Overall, staying at the Biltmore was an enjoyable experience for my family. The front desk staff was a bit "stuffy", but once we got past that, our stay was a delight. We appreciated being close to public transportation. Since we are from a large city, the homeless/vagrant problem in downtown LA was not too disconcerting, but it is a city problem. We were careful not be out too late and were vigilant in our walking. The rooms are well appointed and clean. Although they are small, it is appropriate for the time period in which the hotel was built. It is a classic. Be sure to check out the fitness center with its wonderful heated pool and fully equipped workout areas. There is also a wonderful "wall of fame" with photos of the stars and guests at the early Academy Awards. There are 4-5 star restaurants in the area...Patina, The Water Grill (next door) and our top choice, Nick & Steph's Steakhouse just a couple of blocks up the hill on Hope Street. We travelled the Metro underground rail to Hollywood, it is cheap and easy. We also took a bus trip out to Venice Beach on the 333 and spent the day. If you can get a car, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim is about an hour away. We highly recommend the Biltmore for your next vacation to Los Angeles.
Beautiful hotel

Overall I liked this hotel. It's beautiful and historic - just expect massive glittery weddings, filming, etc. because of the beauty of the building. The staff was friendly. The halls smelled like cigarette smoke, perhaps they should separate smokers from nonsmokers more. Rooms don't come with refrigerators. Valet parking is crowded and pricey ($*/day), there isn't any street parking but there are other lots in the area. Downtown is centrally located to tourist attractions if you have a car. Fitness center equipment needed servicing. Restaurants in immediate area are either lunch spots for the office workers or very expensive and nice lunch & dinner spots - for inexpensive family friendly dinner places you have to be out of downtown, also Sunday mornings food availability outside the hotel is very limited in the area. Make sure to check out the LA Central Library across the street.
