Iowa State Fair trip

We were lucky to get a room anywhere during week of the state fair since I booked close to date of trip. Other chain hotels' room rates were through the roof during state fair and many hotels were sold out. This was our first stay at this brand hotel . Check in was quick. Room was very clean and neat. It is showing some wear but I can live with that since housekeeping is excellent. Swimming pool is great. It is much larger than most chain hotels. Lots of kids during fair week kept the pool busy from 8 am opening time to 10 pm closing time. Breakfast is run of the mill freebie. It has bagels, rolls, cold cereal, toaster waffles, yogurt, etc. I'd call it average but filling. Eating breakfast during the peak time resulted in some items being depleted and having to ask front desk to refill. Once asked, staff quickly addressed issue. Overall I'd say it is a very good value.

Not Posh, Great Value

We stay here whenever we are in Des Moines, which is once or twice a year. The rooms are basic: Older decor, "window box" AC, nothing fancy, well used. But they are clean, quiet (in terms of outside noise), and the beds are comfy. And they have free wireless internet. There is also Truck/RV parking (with hookups) in the back, and a coin laundry. The staff is friendly and helpful, never rude. The location is just north-central of Des Moines, just off the Fwy and easy to get to food, shopping, and downtown. There is a great gas/convienence store just across the street, and a great restaurant just behind that. Behind the hotel is a nice walking/riding path that is great for exercise. We always get a "king suite" which has a sliding door to close off the bed (good for nap time) and a pull-out couch (ok for the kids, but not very comfy). They have a basic breakfast (cereal, toast, eggos, coffee, OJ) The indoor pool and hot-tub are large and well-kept, also good for the kids.

I didn't thoroughly examine the room, however I was most comfortable here that I came back to stay a second time .And would stay in the future. As a person who doesn't use plastic to shop with this was the only hotel accomodating enough, restaurants, coffee shops(starbucks),mall, all within walking distance.Beautiful landscape in back makes you feel like your in your own backyard, the staff were all too friendly.I love this place!

Hotel is in need of major update. Floor had stains. Wallpaper was peeling off wall. Chair in suite had stains. Overall, wouldn't recommend unless last resort.

Nice heated indoor pool. Front desk staff very friendly. Easy access from I-80. Close to shopping. Family friendly. Good value for money.
