Beautiful updated historic hotel on the Magnificant Mile

The purpose of my Chicago trip was to pick-up two Cairn terriers from a rescue organization. Since I had traveled there from Washington state I hoped to also see the sites, shop and enjoy the night life and fine dinning. This hotel is an excellent value. It is a great location in the heart of the Magnificent Mile, walking distance to all the things I wanted to do. It is beautiful and posh in it's up dated decor. It was very clean and quiet (and our stay was in the midst of the Christmas preholiday downtown Chicago frenzy). The staff were helpful and curtious. I had a "situation" with my business meeting (not related to the hotel). The person I was meeting failed to bring necessary paper-work. The hotel has a "business center " where we were able to acess her conputer and print the paperwork needed. This was pricier than I imagined but it was a lifesaver for the business transaction that was the purpose of my trip. I would definately return for the great value, the location, and the old world romantic feeling of the hotel. AND they allow small dogs ,with just a short one block walk to a grassy park! What could be better?

I have stayed at the Intercontinental 5 times last year and once asked for an upgrade. It was January, very bitter cold, my granddaughter and I felt like the only people crazy enough to be in Chicago. It was colder in Chicago than at the North Pole. The rooms are very tiny and the staff member at check in was rude. Blonde female. She upgraded someone elso who said, that is okay. Lost my stays. I joined hilton.

First experience staying on Michigan Avenue so we very pleased with its location. Easily within minutes for any designer store you desire; awesome restaurants, Millennum Park, museums, trolleys, buses, etc. The hotel staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Room was quiet, serviced quickly and efficiently and very nice. Would most definitely stay here again.

If you want to be in the middle of it all, this is the hotel for you!? The location is excellent and it is close to all of the attractions/museums/shopping/dining,? either by walking or catching the bus which runs directly in front of the hotel.? The staff was nice, very helpful and the appearance of the hotel was great.? The rooms were small but nicely decorated.? The only major drawbacks for me were that A:? The bathroom was nice but the wallpaper was peeling and puckered where it was obvious some repair work had been done.? This issue just made the room feel like a motel to me., B:? The location of the room? we stayed in did not allow for any natural light, so it was dark all the time and we had to use the lights during the day, C:? The air conditioning was either too warm or too cold.? However do not let these issues deter you from staying here.? It is a top notch hotel, management just needs to pay more attention to the small details!!!? Overall this hotel is a keeper and should not be missed if you are in town to explore all that Chicago has to offer.

Decent room, GREAT location

The location at 505 N. Michigan was prime for heading out and walking in either direction. I was disappointed in the room - the windows were dirty, a light was out in the bathroom, no bathroom exhaust fan, bathroom was not spotless. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and nice. However, the hallways and general areas were HOT - like there was no a/c. The biggest disappointment is that the website says there is a sun deck off the pool. I even called to confirm my res and request early check-in and asked abou the sun deck. When we got there we asked 2 members of the staff where the sun deck was and they both looked at us like we were nuts - because there is NO sun deck. I told the concierge they need to take it off the website - its was ONE of the main reasons we selected this property. I WOULD stay here again solely because of the location!
