There are probably some bad things you could say about the Roger Smith, but I love it. I've stayed there many times and even though the lobby and the front of the hotel always seem to be under construction, the rooms I've been given are always wonderful. I had Room 702 last weekend and it was a little haven away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. It had a great lliving room, small little mini kitchen, and I loved the bedroom with the chenille bedspread and very comfortable bed. I like the location of the hotel too. It's not the Ritz, and I love the Ritz, but it's a cute quirky little hotel that I always enjoy.

The room was #610, it was very dirty, had not been vacuum cleaned nor dusted in many areas in a very long time. There were scaffolds outside our window where workers were drilling holes on the outside walls, making the room very noisy and dusty during the day. At night a noisy compressor was left charging all night outside our window, noisy nights. Requests for room change were denied. The bed was broken and in spite of several complains, it was never fixed, the bed springs were very noisy so that we would wake up during the night if one of us moved. The bathtub had apparently been white painted and the paint was peeling making the tub area moldy.
It took extreme force to open the water valves in the sink.
The buffet breakfast made us seek.
This hotel does not deserve a three whatever ratings, we have found better one star hotel .
