The front desk was great at check in. Realized our room was right above a smoking room - and switched us - since he knew part of the appeal of being in a riverside room was to sit out on balcony patio - i thought that was very astute of him.
Our room was in a great spot by the river and walking path - so it was great to just go back to the room in the afternoons, sit on patio and enjoy the scenery.
We were there to check out Fort Lewis College - and it turns out the hotel was directly down College St. The town of Durango was amazing and beautiful. We will go back since my son will attend the college - and we will stay at the Doubletree again. The hotel was ok for breakfast but definitly plan to eat in the town for other meals.
Double Tree Hotel, Durango

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Double Tree Hotel in Durango. The rooms were clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The dining room had a beautiful view of the Animas River and the food was good. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The location was within walking distance to the train to Silverton. We would definitely stay there again.

The rooms are well appointed and clean and many have balconies overlooking the river or the train depot. There is a wonderful lighted riverwalk behind the hotel that winds for miles along the Animas.

Easy two block walk to downtown Durango. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good maid service. Very comfortable bed.
