Weekend in Weehawken

We chose to stay at this hotel because of the close proximity to Manhattan without the outrageous hotel costs. We booked a room with two double beds and a pull out sofa. Upon arrival my husband checked us in while we looked out across the river at the great view of the city. He did request a room with a view at check in and they accomodated.
When we got up to the room on the third floor though it was a king with a pullout and we needed three beds. so we called the front desk and they were quick to offer us a double room with a partial view or bring us up an extra single bed. We liked the room so we took the extra bed. It took up most of the space but since weren't spending our days there it worked out fine. They were helpful and friendly and the room was clean although fairly small for a suite. There was a large stain in the hallway a random strand of hair on one of our towels and some discoloration of the grout in the shower which is only to be expected of an older room. Other than that it was clean and the bed was superb.
Transportation in and out of the city was the only downfall. The bus stop is close and costs $2.55 but doesnt run as often on the weekends.
Great location, nice bed, not very clean, beware housekeeping staff

The room was comfortable, and it was nice having a microwave and refrigerator. However, things were not very clean, and for the four nights we stayed there, not once did the housekeeping staff clean the bathroom floor. In fact, after making a mess emptying the waste can in the bathroom, they didn't even clean that up! Worst of all, on our last night in the room, we came back to the room at about 1:00 a.m. and found that someone (who could it have been besides housekeeping?) had turned the thermostat to its lowest setting of 67 degrees. At first, I thought it was strange, as I had specifically made a point of setting the thermostat to 74 degrees as we were to be gone all day, and I saw no point in wasting the hotel's money. Then we were awakened by the alarm clock on the nightstand at 4:50 a.m.! We had never set the alarm clock for that time or any other, and it had not gone off on any other day we had been in the room. I am not aware of rules requiring tipping the housekeeping staff per day (I always thought it was done at the end of your stay), but maybe in Weehawken, things are supposed to be different. I can't imagine why any staff would do such a thing (and there's no way that it was accidental - nothing was ever dusted, even before we arrived!) unless they were upset that they hadn't received a tip. However, with the lack of cleanliness throughout, I wouldn't have left a tip anyway! Other than the cleanliness and the prank (!) issues, this was a decent hotel at a good price for being so close to NYC. The ferry is now $ per person, each way.
Location is ideal

Manhattan is a great place to visit but horrible place to drive. Staying at the heart of Times Square might sound exciting but be assured noisy. The ferry ride from the hotel during the week and from Imperial which is 1.5 miles north. The hotel provides shuttle service that seems to be timed perfectly with the ferry service. We never had to wait for a shuttle Once you get to Manhattan, take the NY Waterways bus (it's free), to the Port Authority Terminal. That's a good place to get information on getting around in the area. Sheraton Suites on the Hudson is a great way to go!

great location for trips to NYC, short ferry ride and the hotel offers a shuttle to the only ferry that runs on the weekends. The room was a little dirty, but we didn't notice most of it till the next morning since we were out most of the day before. lots of space though and easy access to the room. Would have liked to use the pool but it was closed for refurbishing.
Excellent location and price

As this was our first stay, I was concerned about travel into and out of the city. This proved to be no problem. We ended up taking the bus (No. 158), since it was quick and inexpensive ($2.55 per person, each way). Also, the bus station is just across the street and around the corner from the hotel. Since this is the last stop for the bus before entering the city, the trip was quick. It is also the first stop coming back, so we weren't delayed by additional stops along the route.
During the week, the water taxi ($7.50 per person, one way) is right outside the front door of the hotel. On the weekends, service is not available at that location, but the hotel offers a shuttle service to the dock down the street.
The hotel was a great value and was conveniently located. The beds and pillows were great! When you check in, make sure there are pillows and blankets for the pull-out couch. There were no pillows when we arrived, but that was taken care of quickly after a call to the front desk.
