Sheraton New Orleans

  • June 13, 2008
  • Rated 3 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
The room was sufficient for a short stay, the cleaning staff were excellent and the rooms clean. I had a problem with the 'key' which was immediately attended to. The air conditioner fan had a bad bearing and squealed when it turned on. The pool is easy to find - down a dark hallway and up a stair, the pool is about the size of a postage stamp - three feet deep on one end and four and a half on the other. I had dinner in the restaurant one evening with my companion. I had 'Kobe' beef burger and she had a crab sandwich, I can not speak to the shrimp but the burger tasted like fish. There is a lot of chipping of paint in the hallways from the cleaning carts that should be taken care of. This is not quite up to the standard of other Sheraton hotels I have stayed in but for a short stay in an extremely expensive city it will do.

Nice view from the room. Good location close to the riverwalk. Will opt for it again.

Loud hotel, couldnt sleep. A/C is a joke!

  • Rated 2 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
WOW, when was this hotel built the 1950s? The walls are so thin you can hear everyone around you, we had loud talkers in both rooms next to us and we could repeat verbatim what they were saying... Also the doors for the rooms are very loud too, when someone on our hall would shut the door it would literally make the picture above our bed rattle.. We were on the 28th floor and we got to hear he drunks stumble down the hall at 3am and yell for no reason (not the hotels fault) We got to listen to our drunk neighbors talk for 2 hours starting at 1am, I couldn?t fall asleep until 3am it was so loud.. The TV had limited channels and no Comedy Central and only one premium channel. Our bed was OK, but it was close to the firmness found in beds in Mexico.. Also, the A/C is such a joke, we couldn?t keep the room cool.. I understood perfectly how it worked, motion sensor and fan speed, but it just couldn?t cool our room.. I?d hate to be in the is room in the middle of summer..Oh yeah, there is an old building right next to the hotel that bums and "interesting" people like to hang out at for safety you should avoid it when walking by.. When we were waiting to valet the car two people got into a fist fight right in from of us.. No thanks Sheraton, no thanks New Orleans!

Great location, great food and a friendly staff. We would stay here again. I thought the price was a very good value as well!
