After booking throughonline travel agency , hotel was not able to accomodate 1 King bed. Wife and I had to sleep in two seperate beds on our anniversary. Housekeeping was a joke. They made our beds, pickuped towels. That was it. We went downstairs to the Four Seasons diner and finally had to walk out after waiting for 45 minutes for our food. Would not stay here again!!!!!

Our stay was really OK. Our room was clean and I think bigger than average as we were in the last one. The employees we had contact with were fine. We did not order room service. The pool was very cold in August, but there were plenty of loung chairs!

The hotel was built in the 70's. It was dated. However, it was just fine, clean, quite, and full of entertainment. The value was great, considering we didnt spend alot of time in the hotel. Had a great arcade for the kids, multiple places to eat, 8 movie theaters, and all the gambling you could want. Right in the heart of all the south shore action.. Overall great experience

We have never stayed in such a terrible place in 20 years!! The staff were abrupt, flat, and unhelpful. The carpet was so old that it had rolls in it--a tripping risk. The shower had a hair in it. We put out our placard for maid service at 0930. We did see the maid in our hallway, but she never came that day. The beds were so old that one could feel the coiled wires. The bedspread had a red stain, of either ketchup or blood??? No coffee maker or fridge. TV reception poor. At night, we were too warm and could not sleep. We pressed the buttons to lower the temp, but the actual temp in the room was always 70' and likely preset by the hotel. Every nite, our 3 and 5 year old noticed a terrible smell in the hallway. The pool looked really nice, but you could not enjoy swimming in it due to the extremely cold water temp. Surprisingly, swimming in Lake Tahoe is actually quite warmer than their pool. The Horizon is the worst ever and we"ll never go back there. This hotel isn't good enough for their own cockroaches. It should be leveled and re-built by a reputable business.

Nothing Refreshes Like a Big, Ice-Cold, Pool.

This Hotel/Casino is definitely geared to the Casino part of the description. If you like to watch movies, the presence of a Multi-Screen Theater in the Hotel is a plus, but if swimming is your thing, are you in for a Big Surprise ! The "largest pool in the area" is not heated. On July 2,3 and 4 the pool temperature was well below 75 degrees F , and when the front desk staff was questioned about whether or not they heated the pool, the response was, "it is lukewarm." If watching little kids cry, after they jump in the pool is fun, then stay here. The front desk also made an error and checked us out of the wrong room, and when re-instating our folio, failed to re-enter our Credit Card info, which made room charges in the restaurant a "whole lot of fun". Even after getting it all resolved on July 3, the restaurant was still having trouble with our room charges on July 4. The entire place smells like a giant cigar, resting in an ashtray that hasn't been cleaned since the early 1950's. The smell permeates the entire hotel, so if you have any allergies to tobacco, this is not the place for you. On July 4, we vacated the room for 13 continuous hours, and when we returned at 9:00 pm, we found the small "Please Make Up Room Now" sign, still hanging from our doorknob. Housekeeping was kind enough to bring us fresh towels and dump the trash, after we made a special request to the Front Desk. If you want to give the owners your money, then book your stay across the street at the Monte Bleu. They own it as well, and it is nicer by far...and their pool is indoors.
