Description: When we arrived at the Eliza Thompson house, I was instantly charmed by its good looks. The house is darling--just what you would expect from a historical inn in a historical town like Savannah. Jones Street is a quiet road, full of pretty houses and shaded by secular trees.
The drawing room of the inn is gorgeous, and since we were there in December, it was very tastefully decorated for Christmas. Every day between 5 and 7pm, there is a complimentary happy hour with wines and cheeses, and after eight o'clock, a complimentary dessert tray is set in front of the beautiful fireplace.
Our room was pretty, even though it was a little small. The queen-size bed was comfy, and the bathroom was exceptionally clean. The only problem with our room was that it lacked privacy and darkness: two French doors with very flimsy curtains overlooked the courtyard and people constantly walked in front of the bedroom.
The breakfast was good, considering it was served buffet-style.
Service was great; the innkeepers were extremely helpful and kind, whether they were asked for directions or for advice about restaurants and activities.
I recommend this hotel to people who are booking their trip with a lot of advance: that way, they could book a better room than the one that we got. Rates are pretty high: USD 160 and more, but if you are looking for a romantic and quiet inn, the Eliza Thompson house is the place for you.
