For an economy sleeping room & ideal location works fine

The Westside YMCA ia an affordable sleeping room in a great location. The use of their fine fitness center being included with the lodging is a very nice bonus. The rooms are spartan like a college dorm before you move in. But the rooms are secure, clean, and clean sheets and bedspread looked good, TV in room with shared bath facilities. This was my 4th stay at this facility so obviously it works well for me. When in New York, I spend very little time in a hotel room - just a place to sleep when I am too exhausted to go any longer and to shower. I feel safe here and the staff is polite. It is a great location near Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Theatre District, and shopping, also an ideal place ot stay to view the Thanskgiving Day Parade as it beginss on Central Park West. The shared bath facilities are acceptible but I prefer to go to the Fitness Center for showers which is much nicer. Also you have the sauna, steam room, & indoor polo available that you would not find at far more expensive lodging. If you spend a lot of time in your hotel room , this is probably NOT your place but if you stay on the go and simply need a place to sleep it works great.

Westside YMCA

When planning a trip to New York City, choosing lodging can be a crucial decision. Ideally, the typical tourist wants to stay close to the main attractions. However, hotels in Manhattan can be costly. Because we were planning our trip on a tight budget, my friend and I decided to look into hostels. After comparing prices, locations, and safety ratings we finally decided on the Westside YMCA. It was right off Central Park near Columbus Square. The location was excellent.
While we did sacrifice the comfort of a posh hotel, we saved a lot of cash. There is so much to do in New York City that we wouldn’t have had time to enjoy a nice hotel room. The purpose of our trip was to experience the city to its fullest and we definitely did not want spend a lot of down time in a hotel room. The hostel was perfect for us. We really just needed a safe, clean place to shower and sleep. The Westside YMCA provided us with a comfortable double room at an affordable price.
