The Maverick

Best Things Nearby:
Cape Kennedy, St. Augustine, and Disney is two hours away.

Best Things About the Resort:
Numerous activities for all ages and an energetic social director. Variety of restaurants nearby.

Resort Experience:
My teenage daughter and niece thoroughly enjoyed this resort because of the pool and the activities that were offered. Often they just stayed out on the beach and enjoyed the water. Although we had one bathroom in our one-bedroom unit, there was a sink in the sitting area that the girls used to wash their hair and hands all during the day.

The staff was very helpful in helping us plan our off-resort activities, which were infrequent. We did the frog trolley tour of Daytona, and ate at Bubba Gump's at the Shopps Walk. A red lobster and I-Hop was nearby. The resort has a breakfast restaurant, but the girls were not impressed.

Two inconveniences were two small closets and no dishwasher. I bought paper cups and plates. The saying "location, location, location" is applicable here.

Best Things Nearby:
This resort is in the heart of Ormond Beach, just a few miles north of Daytona Beach. There is great shopping nearby and many good restaurants. Also, you can't go to the Daytona Beach area without visiting the Speedway at least once. Another fun attraction is the Greyhound Park by the Speedway. It is family friendly and a fun place to visit.

Best Things About the Resort:
The best thing about this resort is that it is right on the beach and all rooms have a great view of the ocean. Also the staff at the resort are some of the most friendly and accommodating folks around, from the front desk folks to the maintenance folks.

Resort Experience:
While it is easy to tell that this resort has been around a while, it has been recently remodeled, and is a great place to stay. The rooms were clean, with the exception of sand on the floor, but it is at the beach, and sand on the floor is to be expected.

The entire staff at the resort was friendly and very helpful. We had a faulty refrigerator when we arrived and the maintenance folks quickly replaced it, even though it was after 10pm. The amenities at the hotel were great. As an owner, you can take advantage of free beach chairs, umbrellas, body boards, and bicycles. We did not use bicycles, but got a lot of use out of the chairs, umbrellas, and body boards.

Another great feature of this resort is the large pool and activity area. When the ocean water was too cold, we enjoyed the warm water of the pool and played several games of shuffle board. They even had free propane grills to use for cookouts.

Best Things Nearby:
This resort is right on the beach, in fact all units have an ocean view. Also, the Maverick is within walking distance to any type of restaurant. There is a water park and movie theater is just one mile away. Also, a large miniature golf complex is just a short drive away. The attractions of Orlando are less than an hour and a half drive.

Best Things About the Resort:
The very best thing about this timeshare is that it is one of the most clean resorts I have stayed at, ie NO BUGS. Also, the restaurant onsite offers some of the best breakfasts in the country at a remarkably low price. Unique to this resort, the parking lot is patrolled by local law enforcement to ensure the utmost of safety. Also, covered parking is available.

Resort Experience:
This resort is a smaller property, so the facilities are never crowded. The units are well equipped, and the studios offer a suprisingly high level of privacy. The bedroom area closes off by accordian doors and sliding windows, versatility. You can have the entire room open for a fantastic view no matter where you are, or privacy if you have more than two people staying in the same unit.

This resort is very customer friendly, offering excellent prices for extras such as bicycle rentals for five dollars a day! I saw some children leaving a craft activity with bigger smiles than I've seen at Disney World.

La Cienega

This Spanish-Colonial hacienda and country estate (18th century) is part of a national chain of historic properties. This place reeks of history, ambience and class but the price is rock bottom compared to what a comparable place in Spain would be. The rooms in the main building are super comfortable and old-fashioned. The explorer and cartographer Von Humboldt slept here in 1802. The property is about a 1km walk in from the PanAmerican Highway near the village of Lasso and the city of Latacunga (some 90 minutes south of Quito). The super-scenic Cotopaxi Volcanic Park is nearby and taxi will come to La Cienega. The rate includes a full breakfast and dinner a la carte in the formal dining room with roaring fireplace was wonderful. The grounds - on which there is a magnificent chapel- are manicured and restful. This place is well worth a detour. Any bus coming from the north or south will leave you off at the entry road. The "Hostal" is at the very end - the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
