OK if you don't mind hostelling! Good price. Remodeling.

Basically it was like staying in a hostel. Room smelled, mattress very old, my back hurt so bad the first morning. Room tiny. You can hear the street, even though we were on the 21st floor. You hear honking of taxi horns until 2 am which starts back up about 6 am. Location decent - you can walk up to all the main Manhattan stuff in 15 mins or take subway. To their credit - they are in the process of remodeling (you can't hear the construction), but at that point I'm sure the price of a room will double. Only a budget hotel now because the rooms are smelly and old and loud.

Great Value

Knowing that this was a low price for a hotel in NYC, we didn't expect the Ritz. The room was clean and was very quiet. We actually had a view other than the side of another building which was a pleasant surprise. Would stay again. Rooms are being renovated, we stayed in a room that had not yet been renovated. Good location for your money.

Great Location, Worth the Money!

I booked this hotel because of the good reviews. I expected less because it was such a good price deal but I was surprised to see. The staff is very friendly. Rooms are exceptionally clean! Great location overlooking Madison Square Garden and Empire State Building. It is just steps away from Penn Station and only 1 mile from Times Square.

Not a good experience!

I made my reservation directly with the hotel, called back and confirmed it, and they had lost my reservation when I arrived. Consequently, I had to pay more and switch hotels in the middle of my trip. The staff was NOT helpful or sympathetic with the problem at all! There was consistently a lengthy wait for help at the desk and no one we spoke to seemed to care at all. The window heating unit had to be turned on all the time or else cold air blew into the room constantly. But, of course, that made for a very hot night, with hot air blowing directly at the bed. We stayed in a renovated room, which was very pretty. The paint was already peeling in the shower, however, and the water pressure was really bad. The room was small, which is to be expected in New York. Great views! The internet was extremely slow and the connection dropped so often that it almost wasn't worth the effort. The flat screen TV was stuck on an exercise channel basically the entire time we stayed. Overall, it wasn't worth the hassle. We were much happier with the hotel we switched to when the New Yorker ran out of room.

This hotel was good for the lengh of our stay. Only stayed one night for soem fun night life. The room was nice beds were comfy. I tade bit on the smaller side but the TV and view made up for that. We got the Renovated room and I do rec that all persons get the renovated room b/c i have heard that the standard is a tad bit on the sleezy. So all in all I had a wonderfull stay and would rec this hotel to anybody :)
