My beau reserved early and was promised a quiet room away from street noise. We arrived before 8 pm. Problems appeared minor: not being able to shut off the freezing cold air conditioner, poor lighting in the room and on the steep staircase up to the inn, no phone books which we needed to find a dinner place with availability. We called the innkeepers and they were acommodating. We ended up with a lovely dining experience at the nearby French restaurant Mirasal before 9 pm. On the way, we passed a restaurant beneath the inn "Aromas" that was completely empty, when all surrounding places were packed. We returned to the inn after dinner to retire, but a banging sound began beneath us, booming noises of bass, and so strong I did not see how we would ever be able to sleep. I called the innkeepers and was told that was "Aromas" and he could give them a call; At breakfast, continental with the least amount of presentation invested, I learned that "Aromas" had opened in recent months under the guise of being a restaurant for zoning purposes but was actually a late night bar and dancing place. The innkeeper relayed how the sound projects into each of the rooms on weekend nights, where ours gets the bass, another hears the music completely, and in yet another conversations come through. They have a lawsuit against Aromas and must wait for new zoning ordinances to be put in place.
