Description: When planning our trip, we limited our search to places with an indoor pool. As ski season was in full swing, there was limited availability of rooms. We chose the Yankee Inn, as the website made it appear very homey and charming. It is somewhat older, built in the '50s, with several additions and renovations.
The room was obtained for about $98 per night for a two double-bed room with a small refrigerator. We also requested a roll-away bed when we arrived. They charged us $10 total for the two nights use of it.
The room was an L-shaped room with a second door leading to the balcony. The room was clean and neat. The furniture is dated, in that it is colonial style, to go along with the theme of the hotel. The furniture was in pretty good shape considering it must be older. The carpets were newer, as were the fixtures in the bathroom. The wallpaper was in good shape. The shower was tiled.
The room was a little larger than most standard chain hotels.
The mattresses were pretty basic and not very soft. If you are accustomed to sleeping on a well padded mattress they may not be very comfortable.
We were looking forward to the pool. It was in a nice room with skylights. Plastic deck furniture surrounded the pool. Clean towels and a changing room with a shower were provided.
The water in the pool was rather cold. While the kids did not care, it was a little too cold for the adults. The water was very cloudy. I saw the staff test the water each day for chlorine content so it was being cared for, but you could not see the bottom of the pool at the shallow end. Also, it felt like there was sand on the bottom of the pool even though there was none in the building.
Common areas were clean, well maintained, and updated. There is a small lounge that serves drinks only on weekends.
Continental breakfast was basic with bagels, muffins, cereal, juice, and coffee. They also had cups of batter for a waffle iron that you could use.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. There is no room service for food.
This was the least expensive available room I could find in a hotel with an indoor pool. It was located centrally to most attractions in the area. If you are not concerned about the most modern appearing rooms, soft mattresses, or a lot of amenities, it is okay. If you can do without a pool, then your choices are many and varied.
The place was quiet and had a friendly feeling. An okay place if you have kids, don't want to spend a fortune, and want a quiet place.
