Why are there still smoking rooms?

I would have rated the experience much higher if I was not forced to stay in a 'smoking' room. Why do hotels still have smoking rooms? When I opened the door to the room I was almost knocked over by the strong smell or cigarette smoke. Each time I returned to the room I had the same experience. I even went to a local store and bought some air freshener, but it did not help. When I got home I had to wash all of my clean clothes that had been fouled by the stench of smoke that permeated the room. While everything else about the hotel was just fine, the experience of having to stay in a smoking room ruined the night.

All the hotels closer to Greenbay were sold out. This hotels was available via a package (air + hotel + car). The trip was great and the hotel very clean and pleasant and only 30 minutes to Green Bay. The rooms were nicely appointed and the staff were very nice.

I thought the hotel was very clean and well kept. I have seen the gm yelling at more then one employee during my stay. I just feel that's rude and thought the gm would be nicer.

overall, a very nice hotel. The gm was yelling at one of the front desk clerks when we checked in. Thought it was kind of rude.

Holiday Inn - Manitowoc

Holiday Inn - Manitowoc

Originally built as a Sheraton in the early 1980s, this is a top-shelf hotel and the only serious question you'll ask is 'What is this place doing here?'. The guest rooms are nicely appointed and this hotel has all the trimmings; meeting Holiday Inn's very decent franchise standards in just about every respect. That said, we believe it is time for some of the updating that we noted was inconspicously underway in early 2001. Its location at the I-43/U.S. 151 interchange makes it easy to find, although it is certainly not as nicely situated as the Inn on Maritime Bay. The restaurant is very nice and the building itself is formidable and first-class. Again, be sure to reserve in advance during the summer season particularly -- and also on fall weekends when the Green Bay Packers play at home. (It not only fills with traveling fans, but sometimes with visiting teams, as well). We recommend with the proviso that we would have a hard time paying the higher rack rate for this property. Fortunately, that has not happened to us yet and the $75-$100 rate we've listed reflects that experience.
