Club Intrawest

We stayed in a two-bedroom/two-bath unit with four people, two adults and two kids, ages 8 and 10. The unit was very cozy and included a full kitchen and gas fireplace. There was a Jacuzzi tub in the master bath large enough to hold a 6'2," 200-pound male, which I find not typical these days.

We loved having a mini-market located right in the hotel so every time we needed something, our kids were more than willing to run down and pick up what we needed.

The furniture and decor really helped create a ski lodge feel that only helped make our ski vacation all the more authentic. The appliances in the kitchen seemed a bit dated but frankly we thought it added to the overall charm.

While we never used it, it was nice having a mini-movie theater in the hotel. If we hadn't felt exhausted after each day of skiing, we probably would have made it to one of the movies. There's a very large outdoor pool and Jacuzzi that our kids...and frankly, I loved. It's heated year round so you can be swimming while it's snowing...very cool experience!

The hotel is walking distance from the base of Blackcomb. If you want to go to the main village or the base of Whistler, you can jump on the free shuttle.

Overall, we really enjoyed our trip and while these accommodations weren't the most lavish, I think most everyone would be content here. We already have our trip booked for 2008 and we're staying at this resort.

Best Things Nearby:
Blackcomb and Whistler mountains for snowsports.

Best Things About the Resort:
The sheer size and luxury of the apartment! There was a huge Jacuzzi in the master bedroom besides the en-suite bathroom! The 60-foot slide in the outdoor swimming pool is a winner! Imagine sliding down that in the middle of winter with snow on the ground!

Resort Experience:
Club Intrawest is by far the most impressive resort we've visited. The two-bedroom apartment was fabulous. We had another couple with us, and there was plenty of space for all. The apartment was more than we hoped for and the resort itself surpassed our expectations too. There was a nice gym, social areas, a games area, and a cosy reception. There was a good-size kitchen, but not many things to cook with because there was only one large oval pyrex with a lid for the microwave. We could've done with having a dish rack. There was lots of dishwasher powder and laundry detergent, which is great for a snowsports holiday. The lighting is definitely ambient and romantic rather than bright. The ski room is very small with a powdery concrete floor and no seats to change your boots on. There was free cider/hot apple juice on tap in reception area. There are no safes in the vacation homes so use the reception safe instead. We didn't have time to try the 60-seater THX cinema! There were movies at 6pm, 8pm, and 10pm, but we were too busy with Eucalyptus steam room, two outdoor hot tubs, the swimming pool, and the 60-foot slide in the separate children's pool area. There was also a small grocery store on site.

Best Things Nearby:
Whistler is small, so everything is within walking distance. In the winter, you'd even be within walking distance of the ski lifts.

Best Things About the Resort:
Hmmmmm, where do I start? I loved this resort. We faced a lovely courtyard with a bubbling stream, lovely walks, and flaming red maples. The exercise room, though small, was just top notch with the latest in programmable equipment. The games room with the free arcade games was a blast. My dad uses a walker, so the free shuttle bus that tours Whistler was a real plus, especially the one that lowers itself for handicapped persons!

Resort Experience:
Club Intrawest is extremely well-equipped to accommodate handicapped individuals. My dad uses a walker, so resort accessiblity was a primary concern. With the exception of the A Games room, practically every corner of the resort is wheelchair or walker accessible.

Our two-bedroom unit, equipped with a washer\dryer, fully equipped kitchen, three TVs and VCR, a Jacuzzi in the masterbed room, and a gas fireplace was both well-appointed and comfortable. The two bedrooms are at opposing ends, with a shared living room\kitchen area. Care has been taken in all furnishings, from the distressed pine dining table, to the big fluffy towels, and the blue stoneware dishes.

The extra touches were also appreciated. Not only did the resort supply the usual shampoo and soap, but also the bubble bath for the Jacuzzi. And a hairdryer! The kitchen had EVERYTHING - laundry soap, dish soap, dishwasher soap - you name it. The exercise room came equipped with a pile of towels.
