Hotel Decca- University District

The Decca is a fabulous, big city "quaint" hotel located near the UW campus. I loved the quirky decor, the extremely friendly and helpful desk staff and the spacious, quiet room. Every room has a view and is light and cheery. The bed was exceptionally large and comfortable. I was surprised that the restaurant/bar closed very early on a Sat. nite(due to lack of customers I was told), however, we were able to get a glass of wine and sit and enjoy the fireplace in the delightful lobby. I enjoyed the Tully's Coffee Shop located adjacent to the front desk, however,I was disappointed in the daily parking fee charged for hotel guests.

We'd go back again.

Charming and modest hotel with great staff. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very close to University Ave eateries which feature tastety, yet affordable food. Trip to downtown longer than expected. Bus service excellent but it's a $15 cab ride one way. Available shuttle not too convenient since has to be booked hours in advance which is something you don't want to have to do while on vacation. But, you're away from all the hubbub when you want to sleep. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars.

Great option

Hotel Deca is a great alternative to staying downtown or in other touristy areas of Seattle. If you have a car, it is 10 minutes to downtown, Space Needle, etc. Comfortable, attractive, hip hotel. Staff friendly and accommodating. Wash Univ is close by, some shopping and restaurants. Didn't eat at hotel but restaurant and bar very attractive. Had 3 children with us and they enjoyed it (but no pool).

Interesting but Not Worth Its ranking

The main problem with this hotel is the building. The people are great, the location is OK its in a University district, lots of bars, lots of low priced atractions (movies, record stores, repeat shops). However, the builiding is old probably from the 20's and they have done every thing possible to update it but the age still shows. The rooms are very small, the bathrooms are increadibly small, and the elevators are slow.

Fantastic Experience- Great service with a great view

Pros: Beautiful hotel, phenomenal modern rooms decorated with Z Gallery accents, great location near funky shops, restaurants, and a super cool movie theater with old school balcony; pristine bathrooms, excellent modern ipod alarm and flat screen TV. Comfy, clean, quiet. Paid for a city room and got a 4th floor room with an amazing view of the city/skyline/space needle. Really helpful staff. Free internet and printing. Free transportation to the city center. Cons: $6/per day parking fee. Service was so poor in the hotel restaurant that we gave up on waiting to be served and left in the rain to eat in a neighboring restaurant.
