Old

The Place was Old, yet well maintained. I called it rustic. No AC/Heat in the Room. Lots of street Noise. People yelling, cops, fire trucks, street sweepers, buses, etc... Many bums and daralyc's right outside the front door. None in the building, thank goodness. Pretty bad neighborhood. Easy access to mass transit that will take you in just about any direction you want to go. There was a huge world wide convention in town and very little choice to stay anywhere else, if you can pick somewhere else, this place should be your next to last choice. I usually stay at Hiltons/Hampton Inns, There was nothing to the place that compares.

Decent hotel, dubious neighboorhood

Good hotel, very convenient for business travel to the San Francisco Civic Center. The staff was extremely friendly, and service was excellent. Inside, the hotel is slightly worn, but otherwise clean, secure and well maintained. My room was a small and a little sparse, but adequate for 1 person. There was no A/C, only a fan, and opening the window let in a lot of street noise. Even closed, there was a some noise, otherwise the bed was reasonably comfortable. There was no in room internet access. The biggest drawback was the dubious neighborhood. The hotel is secure inside, but there are no doormen outside, and vagrants gather near the entrances at night. I would not recommend this place to families or single women who needed to be out after dark.

noise from next room and street made bad stay

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice hotel, clean rooms, nice size. Walls and windows thin, can hear street noise from 5th floor and hear guests in next room clearly. Internet access only in lobby and often not working during morning.

A no frills place, on Market Street, not far from the Cable Car station, walking distance to the Westfield shopping mall and the convention center. We paid an excellent rate for a summer weekend, the location was convenient for what we wnated to do in the city (shopping, some sightseeing, dancing) and we were surprised by the very helpful staff. mostly young foreigners, who "went the extra mile" to assist us with a couple of problems we had, esp. with our car. The bar/lounge is also quite a surprise, a trendy place with well-dressed young patrons, you would not expect them in this part of downtown. The breakfast at the brazilian place attached to the hotel was delicious. Give it a try.

First of all, the room wasnt ready till almost 4pm. Then we got to our room on the seventh floor with very bad, smelly, creakety, elevators. Our room was musty and not cool. There was no screen on the window. No AC and the bathroom was dirty. The towels were not soft. The price I paid I expected the room to be better and to have at least a resturant menu offering what is available. I will never ever stay there again. jdegutes
