Okay stay but won't come again

The grounds it self are beautiful, the rooms are huge and the beds are very comfortable although they could be a little bigger, and the pool is great but it closes at 10pm which is way to early especially for Miami we arrived at 9:30 and couldn't even go swimming, but there were several things that were very disappointing for an expensive hotel, there was mold in the shower and the paint was peeling off the shower top, there was only one shampoo and conditioner for a family of 4 and it just smells old even though everthing is new looking. The elevator in our building 1 was a little scary and small so we took the stairs next time. They never used to charge for self parking and now they do, it is $12.50 for 24 hours and although that may seem reasonable it really isn't when it use to be FREE. Although we normally love to stay here during the summer because it is more affordable we will not be coming back.

Recommendation for Room Request

I stayed in unit 9, in a ground floor unit facing the elevator. A towel and cleaning supply closet as well as a stairway were across the hall and a pass thru door from my room was attached to what sounded like the staff break room next door. At one point a supervisor and a staff person were having a lively discussion in the attached room about work performance that was so audible they might as well have been in my room.. I believe Mariott works hard to provide decent service, but the room I stayed in was equivalent to what you would find at a Hampton Inn or an older Courtyard. A couple of my associates obtained rooms on higher floors overlooking the golf course and were very happy. If you ask to be located in a renovated unit and not on the basement or first floor level anywhere near the lobby or elevator you should have a good stay.

Overall a Great Place

The resort is beautiful and people were great. Rooms are very clean and the beds were awesome!!!! Had a great wait staff attend to us at the Bungalov, poolside cafe. Golf was a wonderful experience at this PGA course. Spa was OK! We have had some great spa treatments at other places. Deep Tissue massage didnt really feel that deep and the pressure applied was not enough. However the facial was fantastic! Service is a little slow at the Champions bar. I had to wait for half an hour to get a drink. The Blue Monster Pro Shop had a lot of stuff for men , however they really didnt have much of a selection for women. I would certainly visit the place again. Overall it was a wonderful experience.

Convenient but.......

The location was very convenient for me being near the airport. The location is great for being near the airport, with many corporate offices nearby and the nicest suburb you will find that close to the airport. Very secure, gates and guard house. Spread out resort. The parking was fine if you were in a building away from check in. The staff was horrible, other than the front desk. Unless you are on holiday, nobody is around after business hours. The room I was given was horrible in villa #9, behind the conference rooms in the basement. As a preferred member I did not appreciate, no matter what rate I paid. The rooms do have little patios but watch for mosquitos.

DON'T STAY HERE

Hotel staff is terrible. When we checked in, no one asked whether our luggage was taken care of, and forgot to mention the self-parking is a mile (or that's what it felt like each time we had to walk) away from our room. Oh, and there are no side walks, so beware if you have kids. When we got to our room, which was thank goodness clean and well kept, there was a little self-serve consession, locked and there was no key. When we went to the Terraza cafe, we were seated and service was horrendous. We got our food fine, but I could have literally have walked off and not paid the bill. (I had to wait half an hour or more, after we were done eating, for some service staff to come outside again so I could request the thing.) Resort is not even close. The pool slide was not operational, but the pool was fine, nothing to rave about. Beds, if you're lucky, are fine. If you're unlucky, as we were, it's the worst experience trying to sleep. My kids were lucky. Overall, the hotel, not resort, is old and it really needs to be torn down and redone to match the supposedly great golf course there. We're not golfers, so I can't rate that. We were so happy to be visiting family, so we didn't have to spend that much time in this so called 'resort'. Next time it's the Quality Inn for us.
