Holiday Inn Midtown-57th Street

This wonderful hotel was the only thing good that happened the entire week I was in New York City the first week in February 2008. After being asked to leave at the "W-The Court" after my ID didn't meet their approval-sheesh!-it was a joy to be greeted as a Priority Gold Club Customer and treated like royalty. This hotel is not brand, spanking new by any means, but the staff is so nice. They have room service and a tourist desk and will really go the extra mile to make your stay a pleasant one. I booked my first night's room in an emergency when my reservation at the "W-The Court" was so rudely revoked over an ID glitch with my first and middle names which I use both on occasion. They didn't believe me. At this lovely Holiday Inn, the bellman took care of my luggage and they welcomed me in with a coupon for a FREE DRINK and a discount on dinner. I loved it so much; I extended for two more days. AND, it was only $189 a night compared to nearly $400 a night at "W-The Court." I hope the snooty front desk people at "W-The Court" read this since they really screwed up what would have been monthly repeat business. As far as the Holiday Inn—well, as a long time Priority Club member—they were their usual great. Thank goodness someone in NYC isn’t proud of being rude and snooty. Thank you Holiday Inn Midtown for making my week a little more bearable.

The greatest thing about this hotel is that it's in the middle of everything! It's in a great neighborhood, and also you are very close to a lot of great restaurants. There's a Starbucks probably two blocks down (not like there isn't one on every corner or anything). The accommodations are very nice, and we had a great room--no problems at all. The room isn't anything special, but for two twenty-somethings shopping all the time and seeing shows and sightseeing, it's a great place to hang your hat.
