We stayed at the Phoenix Inn for a week. I have to admit, the room was nice and the bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. Nice hot showers. Front desk staff and dininig room staff were very accommodating. Hot and cold breakfast available every morning, more selections during the week than on weekend.
However, we would not stay at this particular Phoenix Inn again because the walls are paper thin and if there is someone in the next room, even at a normal conversation level, it sounded like they were in the same room with us. During the week it was not a problem because there was no one booked into the next room but on the weekends when the hotel was full, we didn't get any sleep. Asked to be moved to another Phoenix Inn in the Portland area but since we booked through a online travel website, the front desk staff and manager could not accommodate us.
Loved our stay!

For the price, this hotel can't be beat. The beds are super comfortable, with comforters, fluffy pillows, and attractive bed coverings. The full breakfast is exactly that--lots of both hot and cold choices, the indoor pool and jacuzzi are great for kids--the pool is heated. The people who work there are obviously hired for their personalities as well as their abilities--I have never dealt with anyone there (and we have stayed many times) who is anything less than pleasant, helpful, and extremely efficient. Phoenix Inn South Salem is our hotel of choice.

I was so surprised by the quality of the room I booked at Phoenix Inn Suites in Salem. I am not familiar with that area or hotel chain. I chose the hotel strictly by price and location and did not have any expectations. The large room had two queen beds and two sinks, perfect for sharing a room with another person. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linens were a very high quality. The provided breakfast included make-it-yourself waffles which was a nice addition to the selection of fruit, eggs, and ceral provided. The staff at the front desk and in the breakfast area were very helpful, friendly and accomodating. I would strongly recommend this hotel and consider it a nicer accomodation than a Courtyard by Marriot or a Hampton Inn my usual business travel choice. My traveling companion used the fitness center twice and found it satisfactory for her needs, with new equipment and pleasant view of the outdoor scenery.
HIghly recommend!
Top notch!

We have stayed at the Phoenix Inn in Salem every time we go there and never regretted it. The rooms are spacious and very nice. Excellent nights sleep every time!! They serve fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon...have free internet service in the reception area...and provide wonderful breakfast each morning of eggs, waffles, etc! VERY NICE! We have never used their pool but can only imagine it to be nice. The staff are always friendly and very accomodating!! Highly recommend!

This hotel is a little worn looking, but the people are great, and the breakfast selection is excellent. (In any case, I understand they are about to redecorate soon.)
