Better than average hotel

My family and I stayed three nights last summer in August. The staff was friendly, the room was good clean and sufficient, the pool was ok (I was expecting more). The lobby and decor was beautiful, nice grounds etc.. The main disappointment was the beach. Too rocky and rough. Could not swim. However I thought the location was good. Central to everything.

Exceeded expectations

We spent 6 nights at this hotel during our first visit to Hawaii. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was courteous and most helpful. We found the valet staff to be extraordinarily friendly and helpful, especially in recommending local restaurants. Duke's, in Lihue, is excellent, but, by far, the best meal we had was in the hotel restaurant--wonderful fresh fish with fabulous sauces. Check out the gorgeous beach to the left of the hotel, across the little stream. We found this to be the most secluded, beautiful beach in either Kauai or Maui. We did a hellicoptor ride with Blue Hawaiian, which was a highlight of our trip and well worth the money. We would recommend this resort and hope to visit again in the future.

We ended up at this place after we left where our travel agent sent us and were treated with WONDERFUL care. We ended up making friends with the front desk staff, as they greeted us with a smile each and every day that they saw us. They allowed us to feed the fish in the ponds. I mean we wake up, go the the hotel eatery and sit next to the Koi pond and it almost felt as if the fish were saying good morning to you too. The bar in the hotel made a special exeption for us on the first night of our arrival and made us dinner. They have great food, at good prices, wonderful staff, and a great pool with a waterfall. The one and only drawback was that this is not so much a beach friendly place. The beach is little to none, but hello, your in Kauai, HI. Please stay here. It's wonderul.

Great deal for the price

Location of the resort was perfect. Exactly in the middle (SE corner) of the island, travel-wise. We rented a car and traveled both north to Ke'e Beach and west Wailea Canyon, Hilton has renovated this hotel and it shows. The rooms were immaculate, the grounds well kept and spacious. The pools were fine and to boot, it was quiet and relaxing. If you want to experience old Hawaii, before the commercialization and development then Kauai is for you. We would return to this facility in a heartbeat.
