If you want a wondeful retreat with old world charm - The Inn at Middleton Place in Charleston SC is the place to go! The rooms are definately not your typical hotel room - they are specious, cozy and the ammendities are like no other. The staff was very gracious and there are tons of activities to add much enjoyment to your stay! It's a wonderful getaway - quiet and peaceful and the views are great!

Fantastic, nature-based stay in a beautiful Green hotel!!!

What a wonderful place! The Inn at Middleton Place is where you go to get back to nature's beauty. The rooms have beautiful hardwood shutters & floors with contemporary building architecture. There's a really large garden bathtub for relaxing at the end of the day touring the plantation gardens next door. There's a trail leading between The Inn and Middleton Place, along the Ashley River, that's especially breathtaking in the early morning hours. The full breakfast is delicious and offers lots of selections. My favorite was the early evening reception at The Lodge. It's a gorgeous building with large windows overlooking the Ashley River where the staff served us complimentary wine (and beer if you like that) and appetizers. Very friendly and knowledgable staff throughout the property. The pool was the perfect temperature and sits right along the river. Very well-designed lay-out at this property! We will definitely be back! What a great escape from the pressures of our modern day lives!!! Thanks for everything!

Rooms and Hospitality

Our first time to vist South Carolina. I must say the grounds were very serin and beautiful. I was expecting much more from the room. The grounds are all sand so the room floors were always gritty even with our shoes off. Our arrival was at 11:30a.m. and thought they would have made every effort to get to our room ready as soon as possible. We were told by the assistant manager that check in was at 4:00p.m. Of course we did know this, but most places we have traveled to make an extra effort to please the customers. Our air conditoning did not work and had to call. Our fridg was only stocked with 2 bottles of water. The coffee pot was old and I did not use it. The ironing board could have used a little padding-and the cover would not stay on. The bath rooms were not up to my standards. The fan was located in the tub area and it was dirty with cob webs inside. The tub needed to be up dated, it looked like mold between the tiles and the knob to turn on the water had alot of black inside of it and the fossit was coroded on the side. The rooms are WAY over priced. I would have paid maybe $80.00 a night not $193.00 a night. We were very disappointed with the rooms. Wish we would have stayed else where. I found the place to be very rustic and like camping.
