Stayed for 3 years...never again

Definitely nowhere close to a $* per night hotel. Over an hour from NYC, convenient enough to Princeton, but right on route 1 which has its disadvantages. Stayed there for 3 years with colleagues, which was about 2 years too long. The first year they had friendly staff and good management. Rooms were ok and stays relatively consistent- not premium, but good enough for our needs. That formed our misguided loyalty. The last two years they've undergone several management changes and a renovation. Stays during those years were inconsistent and rarely good, again with the exception of the front desk staff. Rarely a perfect week- something always breaking or wrong with the room (often got smoking rooms when reserved non-smoking, one time had an uncleaned vomit stain, with smell, for the entire week with no compensation...and I was a frequent guest!)...TVs and remotes malfunction frequently and the rate ballooned after barely noticeable renovation. No standard amenities like at most other Marriot brands and even other Residence Inns- upgrades not offerred, in-room snacks not alway there etc. We're pretty low-maintenance guests, but even for us enough was enough with their latest rate hike...never going back, and if there's another property in the area available for even $1 less, GO THERE INSTEAD.
