Not a 4 star

This is rated a 4 star and that is not accurate in the least. This is a 2 star hotel. My non-smoking room stunk of smoke so badly that my suitcase (which was kept shut other than unpacking and packing) needed to be air out upon arriving at home. Decent for the price, but understand you are not getting a 4 star steal here.
Clean & Good Location

The hotel was clean, in a good location and was close to downtown and 6th Street, all very important to us. Only issue we had was that we left a note for housekeeping asking for more towels, and left a few dollars for them. Housekeeping took the tip but didn't bother to give us extra towels. We requested again the next day and still nothing. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
I't allabout expectations.

A nicely upgrade hotel disappoints when it fails to meet the customer's expectations. It was a surprise to dicover we got a second floor and had to carry heavy bags up stairs -- no elevator. Then, as dependent as we are on the Internet, it failed after a few days and was mostly unavailble for the rest of the week. Having a beer bottle shoved under the front tire in their lot was a reminder that the area is a bit rough.

I don't know if all La Quinta hotels are this great, but the three I've stayed at (Austin, Atlanta, Savannah) have been the best hotels. They're super clean, smell fresh, excellent front desk service with a smile, spacious rooms, and comfortable beds. If I could, i would always stay at a La Quinta, and I highly recommend this one for its close location to fun(ky) South Austin.

My brother found this great room on priceline for $40 a night and when we got to the hotel the clerk told us the rooms usually go for $110 a night, so for a great deal here princeline.com is the way to go. Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00pm they serve free beer and wine in the lobby area and Monday through Sunday from 6:30 to 9:30am they have a free continental breakfast. You can make your own waffles, eat fresh fruit, cereal, juices, pastries, bagels, eggs, etc. This definitely came in handy when dealing with a budget. There is also a gym, a pool, a hot tub, free Internet access and room service which prices vary from $8 to $12. They are also located next to a Bennigans and upon your arrival give you a coupon for 20% off your meal there and it works for your entire stay. The rooms are nice and clean, they give you the usual mini-toiletries and there is a coffee machine in the bathroom. All rooms come with cable and A/C and there is a closet and drawer storage for luggage. There were also a lot of bands staying there as well so the crowd during the day and evening was really sociable. We even experienced a black out when a driver took out a power pole near by. The staff was well prepared and handled the situation well, although the hotel only had one flashlight, but hey how often does someone hit a power pole in Austin?
