Reasonable for the Price

I stayed at the WHH for 3 nights in 4/2008. I was traveling with my husband and 2 kids(8 & 11). WHH is nicely decorated and the rooms were clean. The bathroom was small but we manage. We got the 3 night package that include breakfast and the triangle passes. Breakfast was excellent. It was a sit down breakfast and you could order anything off the menu you wanted. The only issue was the slowness of the service. You need to allow at least an hour for breakfast and if you want to get up and out quickly then you need to get there early. The walk to Williamsburg was fine. I timed it and it took exactly 6 minutes to walk to Merchant square. From Merchant square it's about another 3 minute walk to the historical homes. My kids enjoyed passing the WaWa and getting a snack on the way back. The first day we went to the visitor center and took the bus over and that was totally unnecessary. My only major complaint was the reservation process. When I called to make a reservation I booked a room with 2 double beds. The woman I spoke with asked if I would prefer queen beds since I had the two children. I told her I didn't even know that was an option and was very thankful for her help. When I got there I was only able to get full beds and was told the queens were only available 1st come 1st serve. I was very upset but the clerk at the desk did not care. I had reservations at different hotels and kept this one because of the promise of queen beds. That was a mistake but all in all the hotel was very nice for the $.

Vacation at Busch Gardens

Great location within 5-10 minute walk to Colonial Williamsburg. Good food at Green Leaf resturant/bar next door. Away from the busier area with chain hotels and resturants, on the nicer side of town and all by itself. Overall very convenient to Busch Gardens, Water Country USA and especially Colonial Williamsbug. Would stay there again.

2 Blocks???

Stayed for 1 night. Room was O.K. A.C. and Heat cycled all night. Did not use any facilities, but the walk to historic area might be 2 blocks, but its the longest 2 blocks I've ever walked. Walk at least 1/2 mile, and that was just to market square. Colonial Williamsburg and the Duke of Gloucester Street is another walk. So don't be mislead by the 2 block walk. Next time I'll just stay out on Route 60 near the outlet malls where rates are a lot lower. And speaking of rates, when I received my credit card statement, not only did travelocity bill me, but the Hospitality House also billed me. But to Travelocity's credit, they refunded the charge. Will use Travelocity again, but will stay elsewhere.

Traveling to Colonial Williamsburg with family

Our stay at the Williamsburg Hospitality House was great. The room was very nice. The hotel is equiped with a pool, exercise room, two great resaurants and a good gift shop. It was also located close to shopping, restaurants and the local attractions. Our complaint is not with the hotel, but want to warn anyone traveling to Colonial Williamsburg. We were not able to participate in several activities/tours in Colonial Williamsburg because we were not staying in one of the four lodgings that are actually in Colonial Williamsburg. Quite a disapointment. Also, it was extreemly hot durning our stay (in the 100's) and it was hard on the children walking around the town, as there was not a lot of shade. There are air conditioned activities (in the museum and the Governor's palace) but to get the real feeling of the town, we wanted to walk as much as possible to see the "town in action" so to speak. We would also recommend not bringing children under 10 unless they are very interested in history. They will most likely want to go to Six Flags or the Water park located near by. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Williamsburg Hospitality House, but were disappointed with our experience at Colonial Willimsburg. On a positive note, I would love to return someday with my husband as I believe Williamsburg would be a great romantic getaway.
