Does Not Look at All Like the Pictures

We stayed at this Hotel on 7/20/08-7/22/08 and we had a horrible experience. The first impression was not good at all. The windows were dirty, the hotel smelled like an old stale pair of socks, the carpets were very dirty, we had a candy rapper on the floor outside the room when we got there and it was still there when we left. The bathroom was not clean at all, there was hair all around the bathtub. The toilet was dirty, the tub was dirty. The chairs in the room and in the lounge were very worn and run down. When we sat down we sank. The springs were gone. There was no shower caps, not enough towels for 2 people in the bathroom. The hotel staff including the concierge. The parking fee of $42.00 was outrageous. We had such a bad experience and will never stay at any of the Westin Hotel's anymore. On the website it is stated that the hotel is newely renovated but that's a LIE... Anytime you have to pay $225.00 a night for a room one would expect more than what we got..I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Flash Back to Flash Dance

This hotel is famous for its dynamic 1980's design and engineering, a remarkable lobby, fine service and food and drink. I absolutely had to see the interior of this hotel. Arriving at the Figuero entrance I had a little trouble finding my way down to the lobby floor. I could see the lobby and all the fountains, but it took some time to find the elevator and the escalator. If you arrive at this hotel on the Figuero side with your baggage, carefully follow the directions to the elevator.

A much easier entrance and a much more attractive one is on Flower Street.

We went to this hotel for a look around and had the excuse that we wanted drinks and snacks in the bar at the center of the lobby.

So glad that we did so because the drinks and food were fine, the service wonderful and the atmosphere is interesting, very interesting. The menu in the bar has light meals in several catagories so each of us could find what appealed at the moment. Although the bar is full of flat screen televisions, the entertainment is the hotel itself and worth a visit.

We wandered through some of the dozens of shops in this hotel and thinking of the one little shop in our own hotel, made a note to try to stay at the Westin Bonaventure in future.

Did I mention the fountains and pools in the hotel? I have never seen anything like it. Fascinating, smoothing and beautiful. The artistry with the water and the lighting is outstanding. On a hot evening in Los Angeles, this hotel provides a nearly spa like environment for the weary and thirsty.

Great hotel!

I thought this hotel was wonderful! Our room was perfect, VERY comfortable bed and pillows, great shower! I only wish we had a balcony, but given the style of the building that is fine. Once you figure out the basic layout of the hotel it is easy to navigate. The fitness center was great too. This hotel really should have a Continental breakfast at least, given the price. Some reviews said the hotel was outdated, so I was expecting 70s decor. The actual hotel is not at all outdated, however the "boutiques" and "restaurants" in the hotel building ARE! Some of them are never open and most of them are outdated and dirty looking, not to mention expensive! The restaurants are mostly fast-food style. There is no hotel sponsored directory of the boutiques and hotels so you have to wander and explore to find out what is available. Most were dirty in appearance, especially given the prices. There is a decent Subway on the 6th floor. Across the street from the hotel are a few restaurants like Cuidad, Koo-Koo-Roo, Starbucks, Johnny Rockets, and Quiznos. The subway (metro) is three blocks away, and there are a variety of buses/shuttles, although the schedules are not always accurate and vary weekday/weekend so be careful! Getting around LA is not as easy as it is in other big cities...a car is almost a necessity there! In addition, I was disappointed with downtown LA because it is not like other cities in that there wasn't much available in terms of dining, shopping, convenience stores, etc.

Beautiful Hotel!!!

The staff was great and very helpful. The beds were comfortable and the shower was awesome. The staff was very helpful in getting us transportation ideas to the places that we wanted to visit. They were very kind and were always there when you needed them. The location was great to the bus stops and subway which is what we mainly used for transportation since the parking there was quite expensive. We would defiently stay there again if we ever visited LA again. I would defiently recommend this hotel to anyone who was going there. They have many restaurants in the hotel and shops also!!

My Stay In L.A.

I stayed at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, and I must say that everything was wonderful. I accidentally snapped the key to the safe in half, and security was there instantly to help retrieve some things I put in there. The staff was very helpful in helping me find my way around the place; the hotel is located within many major shops and attractions in downtown L.A., which was a plus for me. The hotel was superb, and yes, I just might stay there again in the future.
