Exceptionally clean, older decor, 6-8 blocks from Mayo Clinic

Very clean, nice kitchenette, helpful staff. Mayo Clinic is about a 10 minute walk away (i.e. 6-8 fairly short blocks north). Hotel runs their shuttle service regularly. We stayed for 5 nites. Mattress was a bit harder than we were used to, and the place isn't fancy, but it's clean, quiet and comfy. Breakfasts were good and filling but boring (same scrambled eggs, sausage, melon, waffles, cold cererals for 5 days straight). They just put in a new restaurant called Twigs, but we ate at Mayo or downtown or cooked in our room for lunch and dinner. There are lots of restaurant choices around Mayo/downtown on the main and subway levels.....from Quiznos to quite elegant. Suggestion: if your budget is tight, have the hotel shuttle take you to Walmart which is about 10 minutes south. Pick up lunch and dinner items. It's a Superstore which means lots to choose from in fresh goods and frozen entrees if you don't want to cook. There is a very very small but nice grocery store about 5 blocks north of the hotel and just west of Mayo, but they close early and aren't open on Sundays which is the day we arrived. While you're at the grocery, don't forget to get a roll of paper towels, dishwashing soap, maybe laundry detergent if you plan to wash a load of clothes, and whatever other sundries you left at home (sunscreen, bandaids, nail file were some of the things we picked up). Best of luck if you're headed to Mayo Clinic.... which we also recommend.

Many levels of rooms

Beaware, the hotel has many levels of rooms, some in the tower with acess to the pool and gym, others in seperate buildings in walking distance with kitchen but really small rooms not suitable for family. Overall not too bad considering the price.

Not all the same

The rooms are not all the same. The non tower rooms are clumsy and small and tv is not in the bedroom and not so clean. A waste of your money. Pay a bit more and sign up for better rooms. very small rooms.

Very nice place to stay

Someone commented on the 3 seperate buildings, that is true, but it also made it a very quiet place to stay. We all got a very good nights sleep. We will be staying there again. The shuttle service is wonderful. We flew into Rochester, and never needed a vehicle!

If you like hotels that suck...

#1. Hotel picture has been photo-shopped. This hotel is actually 3 separate buildings in a dingy downtown setting. #2. Reserved non-smoking, but told not avaliable on arrival. Couple right after us told the same thing. #4. Frat House meets Archie Bunker decorations #5. Smelled like old man urine #6. Didn't want to touch ANYTHING I didn't have to. #7. Creepy atmosphere #8. Aside from manager, indifferent help #9. Good free breakfast. Seriously.
