Not bad, could use more attention to detail

I've been coming to Vegas for years, not to gamble but to see family and check in on property I have there. I was just traveling overnight and chose the Gold Coast based on sentiment and price point. The Gold Coast wasn't actually bad overall for an over-nighter, but it could have been much better. Pluses: relatively large, clean room, comfortable bed, pretty quiet. Minuses: whereas the tub/shower combo was new, the actual controls and pipes were loose and rattled around when touched; there was a constant slow drip, and whereas not annoying, certainly wasted water. (A nice touch was a real window in the stall that opened and added a little natural light to the bathroom.) Floor carpet was clean but rippled, indicating substandard installation or quality; power outlets were loose. Real lack of selection in TV channels, and internet access was a total rip-off at $12.95 per 24-hour period. Yes, this is a casino and they really don't want you in the rooms, but come on, get with the millennium already (free internet is a personal crusade of mine, so take that with a grain of salt.) Housekeeping knocked on the door at 8AM despite the 'Do Not Disturb'. Little things: no fridge, no bag for ice, no lid on the ice bucket... again, attention to detail somewhat lacking. Didn't even bother with the coffee in the room, and I do object to the 'resort fee' of $3 tacked on to every room rate. I would have stayed at the Suncoast (I don't need to be near the strip) but it was sold out -- you might want to check it out for a slightly higher quality experience at a similar weekday rate.
Under Construction

This was the second time we stay at this hotel. We find it to be comfortable and clean which are most important. Unfortunetly during this stay, there was some construction going on, on the floor above us. There was a notice about the construction that stated there was contruction going on Monday thru Friday from 9a.m. to 5p.m. We stayed there Friday night to wake up to hammers and drills at 7a.m. Saturday morning. Not what we expected. We let the hotel know about it and the lady who helped us didn't seem to be very understanding. The first thing she did was point to a notice posted on the counter and said "You were told about this when you checked in." We weren't but we did see the notice in the room but since it was friday night we though it was ok. We did get moved to another room and the rest of our stay was fine. I just wish things would have been taken care of differently.
