This hotel is very old. The rooms are very small and out dated. The guest were averaging 60 plus. This reminded me of a retirement home. The hotel food is not very good. This hotel has bad air circulation. From the minute you walk into the hotel all you can smell is smoke. This is just a place to lay your head.
Aging, noisy, but comfy

Check in was very fast and accommodating. Rooms are now showing their age and new owner isn't investing a lot as tell tale signs become evident. But, bedding and towels are very nice. Cleaning staff very friendly. They've closed the Monterey room cafe and sectioned off part of the buffet as as sit down cafe which we didn't try. They've also permanently closed the Italian restaurant much to our disappointment. It was wonderful. Best food we've had in years. But, let's focus on what is there. The Ports 'o Call buffet was as good as I remember from last year's convention and it was super. We're not gamblers so don't spend time on the strip or in the casino which didn't sound like it was paying at all this trip, I imagine those gamblers were sorry after being cleaned out. Cigarette smoke permeated most of the property. Even the non smoking floors, they need to rework their venting system. The room a/c was very effective but very noisy. Funny, they put them in two years ago. The price was right and the place was comfy so if your not on the strip this is a perfectly good property and the pros outweigh the cons. But the question is for how much longer until they do some much needed renno.

Initially I was hesitant to stay here since it was off the strip and away from downtown. There hotel shuttle was great! It was easy to get back and forth to the strip. The hotel is also in walking distance of the Palms and Rio so there were other hotels to enjoy.

In all honesty, I was only looking for a hotel close to the Rio for a cheaper price. I am now a fan of the Gold Coast and recommend it to anyone. Yes, it is a little older and caters to the older crowd - mostly locals. But the room was clean, the bed comfortable and the price wonderful. The dealers and gaming staff were very personable and I enjoyed the lower minimums on the tables. You can also run across the street to the Rio to mix it up a bit and then come back over to the Gold Coast very easily. Great place to stay if you don't mind being just off the Strip. Highly recommend!

Not a bad place to stay for the $$. Bath a little small, but for one person it's satisfactory. Good place to gamble, table limits for all, dealers and waitresses friendly, would recommend for singles or guys that just need a place to stay while you hit the town.
